How To Be Good At English

^two things you need to consider. written and spoken.

for the written part of english language, i think everyone is already good at this. read more books, magazines such as asiaweek, newsweek, reader's digest and so on to improve on your vocabulary. trust me, dont hold back on reading stuff like these citing you're not capable of comprehending something in english and your grammar is upside down. once you practise this for some time, you will automatically be able to write any sentence in its grammatical order. oh and please do read english newspapers too. what i wanna stress on is the spoken part. this needs you to open up your mouth and blabber in english. watch more english movies, watch more news broadcasts in english, listen to english songs and sing along with them, try to speak in english with your friends once in a while etc.... of everything, the most important one would be to speak up.

you might wanna try iTunes podcasts as well...

membaca memang penting kalau nak mahirkan diri dengan english.....
dengan membaca kita boleh dapat banyak vocab2 baru....
aku pun takde lah pandai sangat english....
tapi aku suka baca buku2 english, dengar lagu omputih, main game, baca newspaper STAR, NST dan majalah2 dalam english.....
dari situ kita boleh build up kita punya english.....

For the written, even posting here will help you improve. My experience at an international forum has taught me this. I was using l33t speak & my grammar was very "cincai", then I started to use proper English at the forums & my grammar has improved tremendously.

For speaking, don't feel shy. If anything, feeling shy won't get you to speak & that's the best way to deteriorate. So speak up. If you're wrong, ask for guidance to improve.

I also recommend Merriam-Webster online dictionary, you can learn new words & they provide the audio clip so that you know how it's pronounced.

Always remember what you want to achieve in the end. If you keep it in sight, then you'll get there

banyakkan membaca buku bahasa inggeris.... tak kisah kalau salah tatabahasa ke tapi yang penting kefahaman tu harus ada...

for me i've been in international forum also,so the writing is not a really big problem,but got a few tips where i learn so many new words from this method

1)translate english song into malay:
i would recommend MUSE as the band use kinda sophisticated words but meaningful,i even believe that words that pronounce in English got its own power,so try to translate it. I remember translating Linkin Park:crawling into BM,and its kinda fun!

2)watch movies:
we are very good at this,yeah just by watching movies and imitate some of the word(not Sh*t,*uck and stuff,maybe something like i'll be back),if u always listen to English stuff,apparently your vocab will improve a lil bit

but if you want to speak fluently,u have to SPEAK!try find someone that is in your english level and he/she also would like to learn speaking in english so you wouldn't mind if your making grammar mistake,bcoz all of you are in the same level,but sometime a guidance from pro's also needed

and whenever you are afraid to speak but yet it is necessary,try to hold this quote my father gave me
"don't be afraid to speak,as people don't care about your grammar,they concern only about what are the messages"...so speak up!and if possible don't use rojak,try to finish a sentence in full English,something like "i have to naik basikal now so i not lewat go to class",arrange 1st ur sentences(even if it takes tym) then speak"i have to riding my bike so i dont want be late coming clas"(ade grammar salah di situ tp anda paham msg die kn?)

ya...agree with sengal..multimedia medium does help a lot in improving our english..not to mention watching movies does some time taught us new words , knew bout other english slang like brittish( which particularly hard to be understand) ....but the most effective way is to use it rather than just learning it in class...

watch porn movies..seriously it helps me alot
