i dun wanna take sides here cuz obviously in war, both parties who go to war are RIGHTFULLY WRONG. provoking the jews with daily rocket attacks is TOTALLY WRONG. and in answering that by pulverising the palestinians, especially hamas top officials, with their military might is TOTALLY WRONG TOO. certainly, resorting to military might leads to ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION to both sides of the border and it further aggravates matter that could hav been solved decades ago. both sides of the fence should put a stop to any type of aggresion already ----> 'LOVE CONQUERS HATRED'. resume dialogue please. this is the age of globalism heyo!! isolationism would never work. heed the advice from barack obama. TALK PEOPLE, TALK!!! be civilized!!

i understand the need to protect your own religion cause its our pride and joy. i totally get that. but what differentiates us from them is we love peace and we dont want war. please eliminate whatever notion you have on your mind that war and military agression can solve all problems. HELL NO!!! world war 2 up until today still haunts the asians. whenever top japanese officials organize a visit to yasukuni shrine, protests from beijing to seoul would spring up. the ramifications and the death count of any wars starting from the day men walked the earth are unimaginable. think about all the children and women that always bear the brunt of war. and NO, it doesnt make you less of a muslim if you talk to jews just for the sake of peace. we should practise what we preach. peace and tolerance are what we need to mutually exist in this world unless you want us to be mutually exclusive. so by talking to a jew doesnt mean you're jumping ship. and of course it doesnt make you less of a man if you make the first move toward reconciliation, it means you ARE THE BIGGER MAN. by retaliating with violence means you still bear grudges.

@radin87 - yeah, can see that. but dont you think all those in power in israel and palestine are toying around with the lives of their people?

@asuramaru - no worries. none taken. but if thats the case, i can see why the place is still in turmoil and tumult. i understand cause i have received the same despise for what i believe in from people around me.

sebab apa israel perlu menyerang orang palestin?
kenapa menghalau warga plaestin?
jawab sendiri kalau tahu... tak tahu cari buku tentang palestin ni...

^i seriously think there are numerous versions as to who were the original inhabitants of the land the people over there are viciously fighting for right now. and this is one of the many many versions. and i also truly believe this website http://www.science.co.il/Arab-Israeli-conflict.asp#Nationhood from where i extracted the excerpt below, belongs to the jews.

Nationhood
Quote from Charles Krauthammer - The Weekly Standard, May 11, 1998
"Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. You dig the soil and you find pottery from Davidic times, coins from Bar Kokhba, and 2,000-year-old scrolls written in a script remarkably like the one that today advertises ice cream at the corner candy store."

Israel became a nation about 1300 BCE, two thousand years before the rise of Islam. The people of modern day Israel share the same language and culture shaped by the Jewish heritage and religion passed through generations starting with the founding father Abraham. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BCE, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
After the Romans conquered Jerusalem about 2,000 years ago, Jewish people were expelled and dispersed to the Diaspora, and the Land of Israel was ruled by Rome, by Islamic and Christian crusaders, by the Ottoman Empire, and by the British Empire.
Throughout centuries Jews prayed to return from the Diaspora to Israel. During the first half of the 20th century there were major waves of immigration of Jews back to Israel from the Arab countries and from Europe. In 1948 Jews reestablished their sovereignty over their ancient homeland with the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
It was only after the Jews re-inhabited their historic homeland of Judea and Samaria, that the myth of a Palestinian nation was created and marketed worldwide. Jews come from Judea, not Palestinians. There is no language known as Palestinian, or any Palestinian culture distinct from that of all the Arabs in the area. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs indistinguishable from Arabs throughout the Middle East. The Palestinian National Charter adopted by the PLO states this fact in the first article.
The area called Palestine included the territories of present day Israel and Jordan. Under Lausanne agreement of 1923 Turkey transferred all claims to Palestine to mandatory power Britain. In 1922 Britain allocated nearly 80% of Palestine to Transjordan. In 1947 UN partitioned this remaining land into two states, a second Arab state, Palestine, and Israel. The great majority of Arabs in greater Palestine and Israel share the same culture, language and religion. The Arabs in the area began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel. Virtually all the Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza in the West Bank of Jordan River have complete autonomy under the rule of the Palestinian Authority.

Jerusalem

For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem (1948-1967), they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

In the Jewish Bible, Jerusalem is mentioned over 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel) 154 times, or 823 times. The Christian Bible mentions Jerusalem 154 times and Zion 7 times. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran. Jerusalem is also not mentioned in the Palestinian Covenant.
King David established the city of Jerusalem as the capital of the whole Land of Israel. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem. Jerusalem remained under Turkish Ottoman Empire rule from 1517 to 1917, and under British rule from 1917 to 1948.

here's another one i got from http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_early_palestine_name_origin.php

Where did the name Palestine come from?

Photo © Jack Hazut

Seashore near Rosh Hanigra
Northern Israel near the border with Lebanon

The name Palestine refers to a region of the eastern Mediterranean coast from the sea to the Jordan valley and from the southern Negev desert to the Galilee lake region in the north. The word itself derives from "Plesheth", a name that appears frequently in the Bible and has come into English as "Philistine". Plesheth, (root palash) was a general term meaning rolling or migratory. This referred to the Philistine's invasion and conquest of the coast from the sea. The Philistines were not Arabs nor even Semites, they were most closely related to the Greeks originating from Asia Minor and Greek localities. They did not speak Arabic. They had no connection, ethnic, linguistic or historical with Arabia or Arabs.
The Philistines reached the southern coast of Israel in several waves. One group arrived in the pre-patriarchal period and settled south of Beersheba in Gerar where they came into conflict with Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. Another group, coming from Crete after being repulsed from an attempted invasion of Egypt by Rameses III in 1194 BCE, seized the southern coastal area, where they founded five settlements (Gaza, Ascalon, Ashdod, Ekron and Gat). In the Persian and Greek periods, foreign settlers - chiefly from the Mediterranean islands - overran the Philistine districts.
From the fifth century BC, following the historian Herodotus, Greeks called the eastern coast of the Mediterranean "the Philistine Syria" using the Greek language form of the name. In AD 135, after putting down the Bar Kochba revolt, the second major Jewish revolt against Rome, the Emperor Hadrian wanted to blot out the name of the Roman "Provincia Judaea" and so renamed it "Provincia Syria Palaestina", the Latin version of the Greek name and the first use of the name as an administrative unit. The name "Provincia Syria Palaestina" was later shortened to Palaestina, from which the modern, anglicized "Palestine" is derived.
This remained the situation until the end of the fourth century, when in the wake of a general imperial reorganization Palestine became three Palestines: First, Second, and Third. This configuration is believed to have persisted into the seventh century, the time of the Persian and Muslim conquests.
The Christian Crusaders employed the word Palestine to refer to the general region of the "three Palestines." After the fall of the crusader kingdom, Palestine was no longer an official designation. The name, however, continued to be used informally for the lands on both sides of the Jordan River. The Ottoman Turks, who were non-Arabs but religious Muslims, ruled the area for 400 years (1517-1917). Under Ottoman rule, the Palestine region was attached administratively to the province of Damascus and ruled from Istanbul. The name Palestine was revived after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in World War I and applied to the territory in this region that was placed under the British Mandate for Palestine.
The name "Falastin" that Arabs today use for "Palestine" is not an Arabic name. It is the Arab pronunciation of the Roman "Palaestina". Quoting Golda Meir:

  • The British chose to call the land they mandated Palestine, and the Arabs picked it up as their nation's supposed ancient name, though they couldn't even pronounce it correctly and turned it into Falastin a fictional entity. [In an article by Sarah Honig, Jerusalem Post, November 25, 1995]

can anyone update me on the facts from the other side of the world, mainly from the muslims' perspective?

aha....
all of the facts that you get are totally wrong caleb....
the jews had manipulated the exact history about palestine.....
actually the jews had been in palestine just since 1947 only.....
that time the UN had declared that the jews can stay at that place.....
it's actually the muslims land but UN had put them there...
if UN didn't declared the jews to stay there....
they don't have any land.....
man...
seriously it's totally lie from the jews....
they just think that their are the best in this world...
don't care about anyone else....
can easily kill anyone whose not a jewish.....
man....
i hate to say this....
but in the Al-Quran had stated that the jews are muslims greatest enemy.....
they will try to defeat Islam no matter what happen....
that's why all muslims are not satisfied with jews.....
but we can't do anything because jews under US support....
they have power to do anything.....

It's hard when both sides are relentless. I don't know what to say, the lives lost are more important than old bruised pride. It's not fair to pick sides, what can we do for the future?
