12-year-old bride and her husband is a 43-year-old Indonesian cleric!!

Being a non-Muslim, I believe that there should be some statement in Islam that would protect young girls from old horny men. Call him a cleric, I see him as a sick pervert. He said he "likes" young pubescent girls. That makes me feel nauseous.

i believe there is. things go bad when the koran is interpreted wrongly. ppl, especially those sick perverts, always hide behind religions and use them as a tool to manipulate others. u wonder can anyone be more instrumental in finding such a lousy excuse to get a 12-year-old girl as a wife?

but nowadays people interpreted wrongly the statement and use it to feed their 'hunger'......

Yeah I don't believe any God would allow such a sick perverted thing to happen, these people make a shame out of religion to feed their lusts. Ugh. I hope something will come up to save these girls

u know, if he was that concerned for all the 12-year-old girls in the world, y cudnt he juz adopt them? i mean, there certainly was a much better and more proper alternative than taking them as ur wife. he's not that sexually desperate, is he??!!!!

yeah, and provide food and shelter and spiritual health too. these are what i consider a much more viable option than taking her as ur wife. i mean, is marrying a 12-year-old meant to provide sexual gratification for the husband or the kiddo? (sorry, my mind seems to fail to register that 12-year-old girl as a grown-up, a woman......hahahahaha ) marriage seems to give the impression that ur gonna get down on it, if u know what i mean.

I doubt the girl's gonna enjoy sex very much. Sex should be about bonding with someone you care about/love, not pleasing the husband/duty.

^...well, a 12-year-old girl, a juvenile, a minor, as ur wife. i juz cannot accept the fact that these so called pious religious ppl wanna emulate their prophet whom they revere and venerate. blegggggh !! they can fool the world but not us. theres no harm in doing that, the most i cud say, its actually good. but do they even know this is called ostentation when they dun mean what they R doing? cuz they cant even follow what their prophet decreed or dictated. for instance, prayer for 5 times a day. are they always on time for their prayers? never once late? and tithe payment, do they pay it on time or they dun pay at all? no concessions are made, always with the excuses of either they cant make it, or they are not required to since they dun make enuf money. but when it comes to taking 4 wives, they R always the first to jump out and make timely arrangements for such things. talking bout LUST and SEX....they R the laughing stock of the entire nation.

this happens when people screw around with religions. i would say only some sick bastard(sorry for the language) would do such a thing. believe it or not, there's another case of such nature being reported in the NST today. took place in saudi arabia. i also had the chance to flip through a handful of such case back then when i was still in the UK. check it out people.
