Skydiving on Google Earth

What canyou use Google Earth for? Well if you, like me, are someone who can’t afford totravel around the world, Google Earth is a globe that allows you to zoom allthe way into any parts of Earth for a closer look of every corner of the world.It’s also a fun application for you to get the real coordinates of yourlocation or to search for various places including restaurants, malls, schools,etc. around the globe but that’s not all it can do. For a bunch of Japanese,Google Earth is also something that can allow them to sky dive without the riskof parachute failure or deadly accidents.


Afterprojecting an image of Google Earth onto the floor and adorning the room withsome blue tarps with clouds spray painted on, the guys hooked themselves up ona harness to make them look like they’re flying while some equipped themselveswith giant fans and fire extinguishers for a more realistic sensation offalling and voila! They have themselves a virtual sky diving simulator thatstarts from beyond the earth – somewhere in space to be precise. This projectwas part of Google’s Demo Slam, a project that uses Google’s tech for doingsomething out of the norm. It sure looks like fun but if they had more equipmentlike those boxes with ultra-strong wind for some anti-gravitational effect, itshould be more interesting.
