Reduce L33t language in forum

Post by chingfui on Tue Nov 11, 2008 10:59 am

I've been away for around 2 weeks, studying for final exam. Now, i'm back and i started all over again reading posts especially the one i moderate. i found too many L33t users. Both in BM and English.

What is L33t?
Leetspeak, is an alphabet used primarily on the Internet, which uses various combinations of ASCII characters to replace Latinate letters. Using a shorter word to represent a real longer word. The true intention is to type faster while delivering the same meaning.

For example,

tgk la cmne nnt...
klu ade semangat nk blaja 2...

brings the meaning

tengok la macam mana nanti...
kalau ada semangat nak belajar tu...

I doesn't offend L33t user even myself using l33t accidently(tersasur mar), but sometimes i find it hard to understand the meaning you're trying to deliver. I'm from a kebangsaan/national school and I've been in UMP for around 3 years and been involved in UMP's forum, i could understand BM and BI l33t , so it doesn't affect me much but not to other members.

In IM, we use L33t a lot because we need to type fast but in forum we got much more time to type and think

SO please reduce l33t language in forum

Keep supporting the forum

sbnrnye aq xksh aslkn korg leh bce ape yg aq 2lis..haaa bukan kah seksa untuk membaca tulisan aku itu...

so it will be the best if we can write properly, because out there..you might need to communicate properly and perfectly. University is your platform to improve your communication skills. Trust me..Bak kata pepatah, melentur buluh, biar dari rebung nye...haaa lentur la puas2,hoho...

Bak kata cik toi,"but most important is we enjoy what we are doing rite!!"
salute girl!

haha... this issue has been around since e-UMP time... up to the admin and mod... they are the rulers... and since you all want this to be reduced, yup... we try... but, sometimes i do type "u" instead of "you", "u're" instead of "you're" and "urs" instead of "yours"... even in assignment!!!!

i think it shud be ok to be used here on the forum, but try to avoid subtleties and ambiguities in the sense that somebody else might not be able to comprehend. unless we're talking bout sth that's official, then it needs u to be professional and certainly abbreviations cannot be tolerated anymore for that matter.

i graduated from a boarding school so i can still read the some of the major shortforms in BM.

guys, i'm not pintpointing anyone in this forum for using L33t language. i'm just hoping everyone will spend more time typing a more understandable language to anyone. too many short forms is not advisable, it is like speaking to people in your own world. LOL. no offense ok.

by the way, we can improve our grammar and others who is reading, right?

REDUCE REDUCE REDUCE!!!!

We always learn from mistake. I never use any LEET Language in this forum. Proper language is very important in this forum so that it will make sure that we can deliver our message clearly.
