2 makmal fakulti UMP mendapat sijil pengiktirafan~

KUANTAN: Two Universiti Malaysia Pahang engineering laboratories
obtained international and national certifications that would help
promote better and quality research and development work. UMP
vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said the Civil
Engineering and Earth Resources Faculty and the Chemical and Natural
Resources Engineering Faculty laboratories would also provide hands-on
learning experience for the students. “The Civil Engineering
laboratory’s certification is a valuable award as it means that data
obtained by it is reliable and unquestionable,” he said. “By
having a sound facility such as this, private companies can carry out
industrial tests without any worries.” He said companies
operating in the east coast would normally send their samples to
facilities in Kuala Lumpur. “Now, they can do their testing at
UMP,” Daing Nasir said. On the second laboratory’s certification,
Daing Nasir said it showed that UMP conformed to the best industry
practices. “We have an integrated management system on safety,
health and environment,” he said. “The faculty’s laboratory is
now recognised as the best in the east coast,” he added. Daing
Nasir also said Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation had included UMP in
its BioNexus Partners programme and this served as a huge incentive to
the university’s research works. “The small- and
medium-industries now have the opportunity to conduct research on their
products using UMP’s facilities,” he added.
