Environmental Conscience in UMP

I wonder:

1. Do we have a club/association about preserving the environment in UMP?
2. Do we have any efforts to preserve the environment in UMP?
3. What do you think of the level of environmental awareness in UMP?

I think as engineering students, we should be more aware of how human activity has a huge impact on the environment. Notice we don't plant many trees, the cafe uses plastic cutleries, students still litter, recycling should be a common practice here but it's not...

After 4 yrs here, I realized that I don't feel empowered as a student by other students & by the authority to take a REAL effort to make a positive change in my lifestyle to help the environment.

Switching off the lights for Earth Day isn't enough, folks. So what are your thoughts on this matter?

I think I've seen some campaigns too but I don't think there's a club dedicated to fighting crimes against nature.

I've a few questions:

1. Would using metal forks & spoons be better than using the styrofoam & plastic forks/spoons at cafe?

2. Why doesn't UMP have recycling centers? We generate a lot of paper, aluminum cans, etc.

Maybe in the future we can have our own paper pulp processing facility!

Engineering university? Our students forget that part of being an engineer is to hold the responsibility of protecting our environment.
