Re: SO NYUH SHI DAE PROFILE & CHIT CHAT

Post by g e n i e on Sun Mar 21, 2010 3:09 am

translate seohwa utk hr ni

PART 1
-Yong-hwa asks her what kind of house she wants to live in. She answers: "It has a garden... a two-story home... and a white home." Yong-hwa jokes, "How about Eco House?" LOL! (He then goes on to say that he knows how to make a fire by hand and asks her if she doesn't want to live like that. Seo-hyun says it'd be like living like Robinson Crusoe. )

-Yong-hwa asks her if she has practiced playing C chord and G chord. Her reply: "I'm sorry." He laughs and says it's okay. After she plays the C chord and G chord, he says jokingly that if she doesn't practice, there will be punishment.

-The song Seo-hyun played on the piano was Beethoven's Piano Sonata #8 in C Minor, Op. 13 - Adagio Cantabile (second movement), also known more popularly as "Pathetique." Yong-hwa admires her playing the piano and compliments her right afterwards, "Really, the sight of you playing the piano is really cool." (The noise he makes when he compliments her, "ka~", is a sound of admiration. Here, it's used to emphasize his point.) She then returns the compliment, i.e. his guitar playing and how it's fun to play. Then they go back and forth, insisting that the instrument they don't play (for Yong-hwa, it's piano; for Seo-hyun, guitar) is cooler -- until Seo-hyun ends it by accepting.

-When the two play "Falling Slowly" (with Yong-hwa on guitar and Seo-hyun on piano), Park Mi-seon compliments that the sight of them playing and connecting through music is so pretty. When Jin-woon says, "Because they're both chic, it looks like I'm seeing a scene straight out of a movie...", Seulong can't help but laugh. Jin-woon tells him to stop laughing. Seulong mimics Jin-woon: "Hyung, I'll practice the piano." LOL.

Back at the studio: Seo-hyun, blushing, gets all self-conscious and it's implied that she thought her playing was weird. Yong-hwa reassures her it's not. In the interview, Seo-hyun talks about how them playing together was nice and that just playing together at that point was just a natural course. Yong-hwa says it felt like a shiver went down his spine and how it was like they're re-creating the scene straight out of the movie Once. He adds that it was nice to have someone he could play that song with, since "Falling Slowly" is originally a duet.

-Yong-hwa reminds her that she has to fulfill his wish. She sings the lyric, "Tell me your wish," and then he urges her to sing the next verse, which is, "that's inside your heart." (She says it like a rap, so he teases her about it.) Seo-hyun asks him what his wish is. Yong-hwa tells her dance "Gee." She's taken back. He says that it was a spontaneous request: "I just suddenly wanted to see it." When he asks her if he can't make that request ("Is that too strange?"), she says it's not that he can't, but that the wish has no meaning. Seo-hyun wants him to make a request that has meaning to it. He says okay and tells her to practice her chord. Yong-hwa concludes that he will think of a meaningful request by next week. Seo-hyun frowns, "Eh~?", but then with a air of resignation: "I understand."

PART 2
-Yong-hwa says that he thought of a drink to order for her: "Sweet Potato Latte." Of course, she's happy. He asks her if he think of a drink to order for HIM. She quickly answers, "Sweet Potato Latte." Yong-hwa, amused, half-laughingly says, "You didn't even have to really think about it, did you?" (The implication here is that she didn't really think about what he would like. But he phrases it politely and in a subtly ambiguous manner, rather than saying something actually critical and blunt like, "You didn't really think hard about [what I wanted], did you?" Yong-hwa is laidback and more or less kindly goes with Seo-hyun's flow, so he seems amused, not disappointed.) Seo-hyun confirms that, basically telling him she wants him to enjoy what she enjoys. So adorbs. [NOTE: Ah, it's so funny how Yong-hwa is the one who essentially leads the relationship, but in adjusting to her pace and level, he lets her take the reins, which she is only happy to do so. There's no way Yong-hwa doesn't make the Top Celebrity Boyfriends poll in Korea after WGM if he keeps this up.]

-Yoona's letter: Seo-hyun is a innocent girl; unnies have protected her, so please shower her with lots of love.

Tiffany's letter: we put Ju-hyun [NOTE: Seo-hyun's real name is Seo Ju-hyun] in your hands; Seo-hyun is inflexibly obstinate and has a lot of whiny complaints, but please accept her, teach her, and guide her; it's easy to think that Seo-hyun is not someone to be worried about because she does well on her own, but actually, please stay by her side and take care of her. P.S. If you make Ju-hyun cry, all eight of us will hate you! Do well. [NOTE: Tiffany uses formal tone all up until she writes 'Do well.']

Jessica's letter: Do your best; we entrust magnae to you; we expect that you will become a person that is better than a sweet potato to her. kekeke

Hyoyeon's letter: It feels like we're sending magnae to marriage; we entrust you to your care. Oh!! That 2000 won ring, if you wash your hands with it, I think it'll rust.

After reading Hyoyoen's letter, Yong-hwa looks down at his ring, and yup, it has rusted already.

In the interview (@01:52: THAT OUTFIT LOOKS SOOO GOOD ON YONG-HWA; LOVE, LOVE, LOVE), Yong-hwa says that despite their smiles that reach to their eyes ("eye-smiles"), all eight of them have the same look in their eyes that seem to say, 'Jung seobang, are you taking care of Seo-hyun well?' His impression was, 'Ah, SNSD unnies watch over Seo-hyun very well,' but also, 'Ah, I should really do well I should do even better.' Yong-hwa says he will try his best to make sure he will never soil her. [NOTE: Oh, Yong~, you're doing a fantastic job already, so no sweat, k?]

-Seo-hyun's letter:

Yong Oppa,
It's still a little awkward. I have a lot of shortcomings and there's a lot I don't know, so please understand. [NOTE: Seo-hyun demands why he's reading so slow. Obviously, it's because she's embarrassed by her note. He answers that he's reading it like she would.] Thank you for making me feel comfortable. Ye~s? Ye~s.* In every situation...

[Back at the studio: The commentators note that Seo-hyun's face has gone red. Park Mi-seon wonders, "Is there still a girl who blushes?" In other words, they're wondering about how many innocent girls there are that they blush so easily. Kim Na-young answers, "Of course! Don't you know how red my face gets after drinking alcohol?" AHAHAHAHA.... LMAO!]

...every meeting is valuable. Let's make many good memories. [NOTE: The more Seo-hyun complains about his reading pace, the more Yong-hwa teasees her by dragging out the words even more slowly. Bless you, Seo-hyun, don't you know he was originally reading slowly to savor your words? Now, he's just poking fun at you. ] Please treat me well.**

*The "Yes~s?"/"Ye~s" is a reference to her "Ye~s"es that Yong-hwa finds fascinating and teases her about it. Seo-hyun bb, you're freakin' adorbs!
**Okay, this is a phrase I translated as "I entrust Seo-hyun to you" in her unnies' letter, because that is the closest translation in English. When Seo-hyun uses it for herself, the meaning changes because there is no equivalent in English, so I'm going to try to explain it. When she uses for herself, I translated it as "Please treat me well," which basically entails, "Please be nice/forgive and forget/etc. when I make mistakes/etc." This is a VERY COMMON phrase in Korea (kdrama viewers will hear it ALL THE TIME), and it's used to show respect for others while humbling him- or herself. It's just standard procedure for someone to say it when 1) they're younger, as in Seo-hyun's case with Yong-hwa, or 2) in the company of others, i.e. the newcomer in office.

-Jong-hyun's letter: Hyung-seo-nim [NOTE: a title used to call an elder brother's wife], I hope you can be close with C.N. Blue. We entrust our hyung in your care.

Min-hyuk's letter: Hyung-seo-nim! We entrust Yong-hwa hyung to you. ^^ Hyung-seo-nim, you're the best!

Seo-hyun points to Jung-shin's picture and asks, "Who is it?" This doesn't sound so strange in English, but in Korean, she's basically calling Jung-shin an "it" rather than asking, "Who is he?" By Korea's cultural standards, which is very big on respect, she is disrespecting him as a person by calling him an "it." That's why Yong-hwa teases Seo-hyun's wording and asks, "Is Jung-shin it?". Seo-hyun, realizing her mistake, turns even redder. Yong-hwa continues by saying that the tallest one wrote that.

-Seo-hyun notes that every other member in C.N. Blue has the same height except for Yong-hwa, who is a little shorter. Yong-hwa jokingly answers: "Did I do something wrong?" LOL! He then points out that it's not that all three members are the same height, but that all three of them are leaning against the wall while he, Yong-hwa, is standing up straight -- so that all four members will look like they're around the same height. She then asks the height order. Yong-hwa, self-conscious about being shorter than the rest at 180 cm, says, "Do you really have to know about this?" She insists on it, so he explains the order from tallest to shortest (coincidentally, it's the same order for youngest to oldest): 1) Jung-shin, 2) Min-hyuk, 3) Jong-hyun, and 4) Yong-hwa. AHAHAHA, I love Yong-hwa's look in his eyes when he says "4th place." He then says, "Why did you ask if you knew already?"

Yong-hwa seems to be on an irony kick, because he uses it again in the interview, telling with a straight-face that he never gets grumpy about his height. (Also, he says that he feels that the atmosphere between him and Seo-hyun is a lot more comfortable.) They ask him how self-conscious he is about being the shortest in C.N. Blue. Yong-hwa is fine with a bit of teasing, but not an overboard of it, and then laughs self-deprecatingly.

-The snack Seo-hyun brings is dried apple slices. Yong-hwa laughs because it's so Seo-hyun like to do so. He asks if she did herself. Seo-hyun answers that her mom prepared it. HEY HEY, IS SEO-HYUN'S MOM ON BOARD WITH SEOHWA? In any case, Yong-hwa says it's delicious.

-Yong-hwa: "Do you want to do finger wrestling?"
Seo-hyun (right away without hesistation): "Yes."
Yong-hwa (surprised): "Huh? Really?!"
Seo-hyun (slightly defensive): "You proposed it!"
Yong-hwa: "As expected, that's your charm."

Yong-hwa proceeds to MELT EVERYONE in the studio with that compliment, prompting a squee (YES, ALL THE COMMENTATORS SQUEED, including Jin-woon) from everyone...except Seo-hyun herself. *pats Yong-hwa on the head* Her only response is, "Huh?" ETA: Ah, but this is why they're so cute and hilarious at the same time. I kind of don't want Seo-hyun to become more aware and change her epic reactions -- i.e. "Huh?", "Ah, this sounds strange" when Yong-hwa is in the middle of presenting her a heart-shaped guitar pick -- to the typically expected responses. Sorry, Yong-hwa, I feel sorry for you when your flirtations don't register on innocent Seo-hyun's radar, but not enough for me to sacrifice the laughs.

PART 3
-Yong-hwa was skillfully subtle at letting Seo-hyun win without her realizing it [NOTE: he was known to be the master of finger/arm wrestling at his school], but he ruined his act by moving his finger that he claimed was so injured by her than he couldn't move it. That's why Yong-hwa apologizes when Seo-hyun realizes that he was just acting.

-Yong-hwa: "I have a wish."
Seo-hyun: "What is it?" (more hurriedly) "What is it?!"
Yong-hwa: "Just wait a moment." (pauses to think how to word his wish) "I'm thinking about buying you a guitar."
Seo-hyun: "Really?! Why?"
Yong-hwa: "But I'm going to tell you the actual wish after I buy it."
Seo-hyun: "Hmm... Ye~s. Thank you." [Yong-hwa makes that sound he usually emits when he's taken back and doesn't know what to do.] "Thank you for buying me a guitar." [Yong-hwa laughs.] "Why [are you laughing]?"

-The store owner compliments how well the sound newbie-to-guitar Seo-hyun makes when she's strumming.

-Yong-hwa tells her calluses will form on her fingers if she continues to play the guitar: "Are you okay with that?" Seo-hyun smilingly says she is fine with it: "Of course. I should do my best."

-The pink beginner's acoustic guitar costs 35,000 won (approx. $35 US Dollars*), which is 2-3 times more expensive than the usual beginner's acoustic guitar. Seo-hyun gasps at the price. Yong-hwa says, "The price is a little strong," while testing out the quality of the guitar.

*If you put it into a currency converter, the number will probably be considerably lower but that's because the value of Korea's currency has fallen more than it usually is worth, due to the bad economy...

-When they visit another acoustic guitar shop, Yong-hwa asks her to compare the sounds of the two beginner acoustic guitars she has tried out. She says the one she's trying out is better. He then asks her which she likes better. She says the one's she's currently trying out is better. The second shop owner brings out a pink beginner's acoustic guitar for Seo-hyun. Yong-hwa asks her if she likes that sound and if she likes it. It seems like Seo-hyun doesn't know what to answer, so she just answers yes. In any case, the pink guitar is 23,000 won. Seo-hyun thinks the price is still steep; Yong-hwa carefully says, "Yeah, but still...it's cheaper than the last one." Oh, I want to hug Seo-hyun -- she's so sweet thinking of her "husband."

-Seo-hyun begs Yong-hwa to play the clarinet for her. Yong-hwa is very reluctant and insists that he forgot how to play it. In the end, Seo-hyun wins. (Oh, and he hasn't played the clarinet is second grade of elementary school!!! AHAHAHA... I bet FnC made Yong-hwa put 'clarinet' on his resume. But he manages to play SNSD's "Oh" after trying out a scale.)

Yong-hwa asks Seo-hyun to play the violin, but now it's her turn to refuse. She says that she, too, hasn't played it since elementary school. "But I'm bad. I'm really bad." She tries out "I"m a Loner" on the violin. [NOTE: As someone who's played both clarinet and violin, I'm more sympathetic to Seo-hyun. Violin is a LOT more difficult to learn how to play than the clarinet. So if Yong-hwa sounded better on the clarinet than Seo-hyun did on the violin, that's (largely, IMHO) why.] Yong-hwa good-naturedly teases her: "Tears come out of my eyes."

Ahhhh, it's sounds worse when they're both playing instruments they haven't touched since elementary school at the same time. I cringed. I wish the cameraman switched over to the shop owner's facial expression -- that would've been epic. In any case, Seo-hyun aptly notes: "It sounds like we're creating discord."

-In the interview, Yong-hwa says that he wanted to buy a guitar that'd be comfortable to practice with. He says he felt very sorry to Seo-hyun that he couldn't buy the pink beginner's acoustic guitar for her, even though it fit her very well.

-Yong-hwa asks, "How about a mini guitar?" Seo-hyun reassures him that it's okay and that she doesn't need a guitar like that. She says that since she's still a beginner, it's okay to start off with something cheaper. Park Mi-seon finds Seo-hyun very sweet, as do I. *hugs Seo-hyun*

PART 4
-Yong-hwa asks how much the mini guitar is. The shop owner replies that the price is a little steep for the usual mini guitar, which is 15,000 won. Yong-hwa doesn't seem to mind the price, as he notes that the company is a good guitar-maker. They try out the instrument. It's too small for Yong-hwa to play fully to his abilities, but it fits Seo-hyun quite well since she doesn't have to stretch her fingers as much. He asks her how it feels, and she answers that it feels very comfortable. Yong-hwa looks sorry that he couldn't buy her the regular beginner's pink acoustic guitar. In the end, Yong-hwa buys a brand new mini guitar for her.

Seo-hyun: "You're really buying it for me?"
Yong-hwa: "Of course."

He pays with cash, which impresses Kim Na-young. Okay, so time for another cultural explanation. In the U.S., it's normal to pay almost all items with debit cards and credit cards. Essentially, a very credit-based economy. In Korea, this tendency is significantly less so. Credit cards are usually only used for pricier items. Everything else is still paid for by cash. And even though Korea is slowly changing to a more credit-based economy, a lot of the old rules are still in place. For instance, it's very difficult to return items once they are bought, especially if they're paid with cash. It's one of the reasons why shop owners are so reluctant to accept credit cards, because it means items can be returned and it means they get less profit. Fortunately for the shop owners, unless the buyer wants to pay for the expensive item in cash (i.e. Yong-hwa's case), items that are not considered to be expensive are paid in cash, not credit.

-When the two play "Cat Dance" on the piano together (with Seo-hyun playing the harmony part), everyone in the shopping center starts to notice. Jin-woon enviously comments on how well they match. Jo Hyung-gi declares that he will become the YongSeo Couple's manager and that they hold a concert. Park Mi-seon pipes up that they should add the Adam Couple to the concert as well. (It's so cute when Seo-hyun unconsciously repeats Yong-hwa's "Gj~yeah!" They do say couples become the same person or start copying each other.)

-Yong-hwa says his wish for her to learn to play the piece in a month. He then brings out a beginner guitarist's textbook that he bought beforehand to help her. She thanks him, but no doubt feels intimated by the task, and asks if she has to do this all by herself. Yong-hwa answers that he wants her to try to do it by herself, but reassures her that he will help her out if she needs it.

Seo-hyun: "Can I really do it by myself?" [NOTE: Don't worry, Seo-hyun, Yong-hwa will help you if you need it. Ah, maybe this is too much to hope, but I hope this means that she'll call him outside WGM for help or something...]
Yong-hwa: "Of course. Here they show you how to play the chords." (shows her the page that teach beginners how to play the guitar chords)

Later, he asks her if she knows the song she has to play. Seo-hyun says she doesn't, but when he sings some part of 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up," she recognizes it. Even Park Mi-seon knows it, so it seems like the song is well-known in Korea. Personally (particular as a former musician, albeit of the classical music genre), the fact that Seo-hyun knows the song should really help her pick up the notes a lot faster when practicing. She seems well-versed in music, so she'll be able to pick up the notes by ear if she does a lot of listening. So the trouble probably won't be playing the notes or the music itself, it'll be instrumental, i.e. learning how to play the chords, strumming patterns, and other guitar techniques. Good luck, Seo-hyun, I, too, have confidence in your musical abilities! It's a daunting task, but you can do it.

In the interview, Seo-hyun reveals that she had been planning on learning how to play the guitar anyway, so basically says that she will see this as a good opportunity. She's very happy that he bought her the instrument, and that she wants to know how to play the guitar while singing. Yong-hwa says that he'd like it if the two of them could sing and play guitar duets on future music shows. (YES, YES, YES. DO IT. That and a piano/guitar duet as well.)

Re: SO NYUH SHI DAE PROFILE & CHIT CHAT

Post by theMVP on Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:34 pm

taken from a fan account..

Taeyeon's musical schedule is supposed to be announced in early April~ All the good seats (VIP seats) are sold out though and even the other seats will get sold out quickly once the schedule is known so act quickly~

April is the renewal time and most likely she will stay with Chin Chin she is just too big a DJ for MBC now they won't let her go and Taeyeon herself wants to continue. Only SM can make her quit but so far I don't see any hint of them doing so. There are behind stories I can't talk about because it's too rumorish but essentially Taeyeon is really stressed with her schedules. Behind the scenes people are fighting for Taeyeon and because of that in the end she is burdened with extreme schedules and yet her character is such that once she accepts a job she will overwork herself to complete it responsibly. (Like how she went to try to record Win Win even when she was very sick)

There really isn't a significant rumor of FO2 being cancelled yet I think what you heard is just some people speculating due to low ratings. The PD will at least try some new things before getting it considered for cancellation. Even if it got cancelled, many shows will still want Yoona so I don't think she will be free much. It's time for Yoona to slowly prepare to be in a drama again so hopefully SM can find the right one for her, for the 2nd half of this year or next year. But SM not really good when it comes to picking or producing dramas sigh...

Sunny is very busy these days too since she has become lot popular and is considered one of the best idol variety talent today now so she will continue to get lots of various jobs so she won't have much free time. MTV's The M is being cancelled, today is the last day so her workload is lessened a little. The managers are also trying to find an appropriate permanent position for Sooyoung. She is again recognized for her show talents so no worries there mostly. From what I heard I believe one of the jobs Sooyoung really wants is to be a radio DJ at one of the major stations. There have been few negotiations but I think they didn't work out in the end. Major station DJ jobs are extremely hard to get.

IY's ratings is pretty good actually for the timeslot. Also these shows are watched by more younger population, and in Korea this population often watch the show in different ways - like on the internet, on portable media players, or they download the video. So the true viewership for IY is actually better than what the published ratings say. Which is why it reportedly gets good ad sales. IY still has the buzz and critical acclaim so it's one of the most successful variety shows in recent years.
