Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:59 pm

Oleh kerana smua xleh login.. jom kita baca teaser sama2

I cannot take credit for this, as I am just creating the thread for the writer, before anyone asks

Disclaimer: The following story is written to promote
the new Dungeon for Cabal Online. It contains a lot of spoilers from
the quest story. If you wish to experience the story in game for
yourself we suggest you don’t read further, as it will only ruin your
in-game discovering experience. However if you are one of those people
that never read the quests in game maybe you’ll like to read it now and
be prepared for this new epic adventure in the lands of Nevareth.

It's dark so dark, I hear some distant voices. Something grabbed me and
moved me up on a stretcher, we are starting to move , people carry me
somewhere, then I pass out again.

It’s hot I feel I’m burning there is fire everywhere around me, I
see something huge made out of rocks and fire running towards me and
some strange voice shouting:

Fire Giant ... Fire Giant … Native ... Fire Giant ...

The huge thing made of fire and rocks is charging at me. As soon as it
gets close enough to hit me I wake up again, sweating from the burning
flames in my painful nightmare.

I am still unable to see, my head hurts, such pain I’ve never felt
anything like that, I feel like I want my head to be removed so I can
get rid of the pain. I hear the voices again they are talking about me.
It’s my lovely wife, my dear healer if she is around I got nothing to
worry about. They are carrying me somewhere. After hearing her voice I
start to feel a bit better I will survive just need some more sleep.

As soon as I move to the realm of dreams I feel a sea breeze around
me. There is a strange stench in the air. I look around and realize I’m
standing on the main deck of a shipwreck, the old ship is split in half
and it’s tilted very strangely. Then I hear a bone-chilling shout from
something that has just awoken:

Muhahaha I’m back and nothing can stop me! DIEEE!

As soon as the echo of the shout disappears, ghosts start to appear all around me.
Ghosts so many ghosts I’ve not seen so many enemies even in the battles
with the Procyon confederation. They start moving towards me so many
ghosts. Then I hear some strange language being spoken behind me and I
feel weak so weak I don’t have the strength to hold my sword anymore. I
manage to gather the strength to turn around and all I see is a huge
cutlass coming down on me I don’t have time to see what’s holding it as
I wake up.

This time I’m shivering from the winds that blow me in my dream. I’m
now able to open my eyes but still unable to focus on anything. It’s
all so blurry I can barely make anything out of it. I’m lying on my
bed, I recognize the smell of my home. My wife sits next to me on our
bed and is chanting her healing spells. Then another voice appears, I
think it’s my sister the wizard casting her regeneration spells to
enhance my wife’s healing. I must have been in very very bad shape if
it takes both of them to fix me up. I try to say something but I can’t
even command my mouth to open. I pass out again exhausted from my
attempts to get control of my body.

The dreams start again. I’m starting to wonder wonder whether they
are somehow connected to my condition or are the nightmares made up by
my suffering mind. This time I’m on a mountain path there are rocks
everywhere even above me. It’s like a tunnel dug deep in a huge
mountain, there is bright light ahead of me. I look behind and see
hundreds of rocks falling from the ceiling, I guess the way is towards
the light.

I step forward and as soon as I get out of the tunnel. I’m on a small
beach surrounded by rocks from every side. There is a small pond in the
middle of it all, it looks so calm and tempting. Are the nightmares
over? Is this a nice dream, finally, after all those nightmares? I
decide to approach the pond and drink some water. The water is so clear
like tears, I kneel down and reach in with both my hands to take some
water, and then I see them - many shadows in the water moving towards
me. I jump up but it’s too late one of the shadows jumps out of the
water, huge tentacle reaches for me and grabs me. It circles around my
waist like a snake. Its holding me firmly, I can’t get free it starts
moving towards the center of the pond. I try to get my sword out and
then all of the other shadows get out of the water. There are like a
dozen of these huge tentacles around me now some of them have huge
spikes at the end. Four more tentacles get hold of me, two holding the
hands and the other two holding my legs. I guess the thing that
controls them didn’t like my attempt to get my sword out. We are now
near the center of the pond and an enormous shadow starts moving up in
the water. It is like ten times bigger than me. The water stirs a bit
then it opens and a huge head appears. Four nasty green looking eyes
stare at me. The five tentacles holding me start moving towards the
middle of the head a bit lower then the eyes, and then a huge mouth
opens there spiked teeth facing every possible direction. The mouth is
so huge it can probably swallow me in one piece. I start screaming and
try to get out of the tentacles, but it’s pointless; their hold of me
is too strong I don’t even slow down their movement with my attempts of
resistance. It seems my death in the belly of this monster is
inevitable.

I keep trying to get out of the tentacles and they keep carrying me
towards the huge mouth then I wake up just before they put me in it.

I'm still shaking and twisting my body as if I’m trying to get out of
the tentacles. Its morning outside; the light is making its way through
the small cracks on the lids of the bedroom windows. My head still
aches but its much better now. I raise my hand and touch it, no
bandages so it was not an open wound. Damn, what hit me like that, I’m
still trying to remember. I get out of the bed and open the windows.
The fresh morning air rejuvenates me, what happened for God’s sake.
We were in Tierra Glorriosa fighting for our confederation. It was the
special war that decides who gets the weekly sponsoring from the Sage
Tower. But what happened?

I hear my wife waking up behind me. I turn around to kiss her and then
I see all my armors on the floor, my Greatsword lying next to my bed,
all my armor parts scattered around as if they were removed in a hurry
and then I see my helm. The mighty mithril helm looks strangely bent. I
pick it up and immediately notice it’s completely ruined, I can just
crush it with my transmuter nothing else can be done with it, two huge
dents on top of it marking his claws.

Oh my God, so that’s what happened to me? It was him again, that blader
... He has made it his top priority to hunt me down in the wars. A
sudden rush of memories and I remember: I was building a Resurrection
Tower and then I heard him, He was coming down on me from the air, his
crushing blow landing on my head. I passed out. I wonder how they
removed this twisted piece of metal from my head.

My wife is now fully awake I guess my attempts to get out of the
nightmare tentacles woke her up. She gets up and kisses me on the
forehead whispering “I really thought I lost you this time”. Lots of
voices start coming from the square outside

- What’s going on, I ask
- Its Monday dear, the market is opening.

I’ve slept over 40 hours; damn ... he really hit me hard this time I bet he got new weapons.

- Why don’t you go out dear, talking with the traders might cheer you up a bit and you may even find a new helm, she said
- Great idea, by the way, who won the war?
- We dear, you managed to finish that Resurrection Tower just before he
knocked you down and it allowed us to launch a direct assault on their
base.
- Ha, I’m already feeling better.

I dress up and go downstairs. It’s so cool to have a house just next to
lady Yekaterina, every trader in Nevareth comes here, finding a new
helm will only take few minutes and I can hear some of the latest
gossip.

As soon as I go downstairs, I see a huge crowd gathering around
Fissher. He is an agent for the Port Service, so all news come to him
first.

I wonder if it’s something about the war. The battles between
the 2 confederations have been normal sight for a while now, I wonder
if they could still impress the crowds, he sees me going out and shouts
my name; rushes towards me, grabs my hand and leads me towards his
stall. While we walk, he keeps shouting:

“New Island found, New Island found, brave explorers needed.”

As soon as we get to his stall he takes a leaflet from it and puts it
in my hands. It’s from Morrison the Officer in Port Lux colony. I’ve
not been there in ages. After the two confederations were formed,
Morrison declared Port Lux neutral territory, he didn’t want to get
involved in the political battles. I hear they are having financial
problems in there now, very few people still go there since we are all
so taken by our struggle. He has definitely worked hard on this leaflet
it’s all flashy and full of motivational phrases how we should not
abandon our search for new technology how we should explore the new
island. Oh well, he has earned at least a visit, to hear out what he’s
up to. But first I need a helm.

I go inside Lady Yekaterina’s house and I enter the “helmet room”. One
of the reasons her stores are so popular is is her great item
organizing : everything is sorted out by types and models. It’s so easy
to find what you are looking for. A quick look around the room and I
find it, top shelf on the right wall - huge notice hanging above the
shelf:

"Mithril Armorhelms of Deathblow"

I pick up the shiniest one, my old instructor used to say “the shinier
they are, the harder the metal it is”. Happy with the new helm and the
price I managed to get it for, I go back to my house. My wife has made
breakfast already and is waiting for me.

- So what’s the latest gossip around the market making so much noise outside ? ... she asks
- Morrison is doing a marketing campaign trying to promote a new island they found.
- O really, we should go see him. We’ve not been there for almost a year now.
- Yes, we’ll go after breakfast.

.................

Morrison's story

One hour later we are ready for travel. I get our Return Cores out of
the safe, we just picture the PL colony in our heads and touch the
stones. The old technology is so cool it instantly teleported us just
in front of Morrison’s house. So many people around, I’ve not seen Port
Lux so crowded for at least 2 years when it was first opened. I wonder
if we’ll be able to get to him at all. Then I see Reison one of his
trusted guards, I raise my hand to say hi to him hoping he’ll still
remember me. And he immediately shouts to make way for us to pass.
Guess he still remembers me. We manage to get to him and he greets us
very warm.

- So you still remember me hehe?
- How can I forget that little kid that barely managed to hold his big sword, and spoke of his dreams to rule the world.
- Ah yeah I was young and overambitious back then. How are you doing Reison?
- Definitely not overambitious my lord, after all you command the best
guild in Nevareth and your confederation is so prosperous thanks to you.
- Ha I thought you guys want to stay neutral around here.
- Neutral – yes. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore the news my
lord. And back to your question. We’ve been through some hard times but
hopefully the new island will improve things a bit around here. But
where are my manners? I shouldn’t hold you here at the door. My master
Morrison is waiting for you inside. He has instructed me to let you in
as soon as you come, he was expecting you.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Thu Dec 17, 2009 9:35 am

We walk up the stairs and enter Morrison’s mansion. It’s in the middle
of Port Lux and we have so many memories connected to this place, from
the times long forgotten before the Nations appeared, when we all
fought together trying to prevent a new catastrophic event that would
wipe out the world as we know it. It’s been only 2 years but it feels
like it was a different life. The names Patren, Veradrix and the others
seem so distant now. We walk through the corridors that we remember so
well talking about the memories and finally get to Morrison’s guest
room. As soon as we enter we see the back door shutting, as if someone
left in a hurry.

Morrison doesn’t give us time to ask about it and jumps up to hug us
and welcome us in his home once again. He calls his servant that brings
some of that delicious Port Lux tea.

While sitting around the table he asks us with that unforgettable smile of his.
- So have you guys seen our new leaflet? Skalid sponsored it can you
believe it, I guess the little rascal smelled profit and decided to
join in and help us promote it.

- Yes its very beautiful, answered my wife.
- But we need more then colorful pictures, my friend. I decide to get straight to the point.
- Yes of course. So let me give you the full story then. As you know we
are trying to stay neutral from the political disputes between the two
confederations. So often people that have information that could cause
big disputes among the members of the different confederations come to
us, for advise and help. Few weeks ago two wanderers came to Port Lux
seeking help. They were both male one older the other younger. But they
didn’t want to give out their identities. They looked terrified from
what they found out. So we decided not to insist too much finding on
finding who they were.

They reported about an island they found. It’s actually near Port Lux
but nobody else found it before that because it is surrounded by a
strange magnetic field. The travelers found it after following a
mysterious green mineral that was washed ashore. Basically the mineral
acted as a compass.

- So if we find more of that mineral we can also get to the island?
- That’s right, the travelers brought enough of it when they came to
make some compasses for a first expedition. But the problem is that you
need big quantities of the mineral for each compass and as soon as you
get to the island the minerals lose their magnetic properties and lose
their ability to guide you there again so they become worthless and we
need huge supply of fresh minerals. We managed to find out about this
the hard way of trial and error.
- So we have only limited supply of compasses?
- Not only that but they also cannot be reused. Fortunately for us we
managed to find a solution to this problem. Do you remember Mr. Heil
who worked for the sage tower? Well he left the tower and is now
working as a independent researcher. I don’t know where he heard of it
but he came to the colony and offered us his mass copy of the mineral.

- It’s good to hear he is doing well.
- Yes he is the type of person that makes you annoyed when he is around
and at the same time you are curious about him when he isn’t. Ha ha.
He named the copied compass “Lost Island Compass” and then he took most of it with him except a few.

He said “I don’t want to see one of the confederations monopolizing on
the compass. I’m going to throw them everywhere in Nevareth so they can
find their way to the champions worthy of exploring this island.”
God he is something isn’t he? Haha.
- So can you tell me more about the island?
- The travelers and the first expedition we sent after them couldn’t
advance further then the entrance of the island because it seems it is
infested by monsters. They said the monsters appeared to be members of
the mutant clan, and that the island was surrounded by an ominous
energy like the whole place is haunted. There is probably something
more than the mutant clan monsters lurking there, but we’ll have to
wait and see.
- So the first expedition failed?
- Yes that’s true. The first expedition members were attacked by
ferocious mutant creatures which they’ve never seen anywhere else in
Nevareth. They barely escaped from the monsters with the help from an
invisible power that helped them to warp outside. I don’t know if the
power has something to do with the vindictive energy surrounding the
island, but it sounds like someone who helps adventurers lost in the
island.

So how would you 2 feel about joining our next expedition? We certainly need some more experienced fighters there.
- Sure thing, we are ready to depart today.
- Thank you for accepting my offer. Let me clarify this first. The
report about the island and the mineral are sole properties of the
Independent colony of Port Lux, not of either of the confederations.
That means Port lux will share the ownership of anything, perhaps even
legacy of the honorable age found from the island with the
confederations.
We accept the confederation members to join this expedition, but we
will not get involved in any possible political disputes happening
between members of the two confederations.
- I got it.
- And… to prove that we would like to form the next expedition from
members of both confederations. I have already invited some fighters
from their ranks, I’m sure you’ll know them.

As soon as Morrison spoke those words the back door opened again and
two figures dressed up in purple war clothing entered the room. They
started walking towards the table but I couldn’t see their faces
because of the light coming from the window behind them. As soon as
they got next to the table I recognized him. Immediately reached for
the hilt of my greatsword, but my wife stopped my hand.

- NOOOO! I shouted, anyone but him.

Morrison was staring at me apparently he didn’t know what happened,
probably he has ignored any news coming out recently trying to organize
this expedition.

The blader grinned and spoke:

- What’s up mate how’s your head? Do you know my vice captain ( he pointed at his companion a huge force shielder).

The cocky bas.tard, I knew he’ll boast about it, but didn’t expect it to be here nor so soon.
- My head’s fine, how do you feel without the sage tower sponsorship for another week? I decided to reply.

It started to look like a clash is inevitable.

Morrison realized that pretty fast so he interfered.

- Now, now boys let us all act like grownups here. We are talking about
an expedition to a new monster-infested island that could be full of
lost ancient technology. I need the best possible fighters for this
very dangerous task. So I want you to work together. You both have a
reputation of people that deliver results and that is what we all want
isn’t it?

Thinking about my guild first as always I knew how much it could help
if I’m one of the first to explore that place and give them all the
information I could gather. So I decided to accept.

- Fine I’ll work with him. But I want my wife and my sister on the team
also since I don’t trust him. And don’t expect me to like it.
- We’ll have a lot of fun there mate. The blader replied and grinned
again - I’m taking my vice captain we could use a force shielder there.

- And I have already contacted an Ascetic Force blader that could
accompany you on the mission he is neutral to the confederations but
has huge experience with all kinds of strange old technology and his
vast knowledge of how things work and his ability to find the weakest
spots of the monsters should be of great help for the expedition. -
Said Morrison while he was bringing 6 of his “Lost Island Compasses” -
Unfortunately Heil left me only 6 of these although the ship has seven
passenger rooms. So it will have to be only the six of you until we can
find where he hid the others. You can find the ship near the Lava cave
here in Port Lux I’m sure you all remember where it is. I can only wish
you good luck while you explore the Forbidden Island – as we started
calling it.

I reached in my pocket and got out my guild communicator out. Explained
to the guild what we learnt and where we are heading and asked my
sister the wizard to come as fast as possible to the lava cave in Port
Lux. We said our goodbyes to Morrison and teleported home to get our
items ready.

After lunch we met with the two Procyons in front of the cave. Just
next to it there was a new ship dock being built. It looked as if it
was constructed over night but I guess its good enough for the only
ship that has a brave enough crew to venture to that island.

The Blader and I stared at each other for like 10minutes, then we shook
hands - both realizing what’s at stake here. There was no need for
words. We both knew the terms of this contract – work together so we
can finish our task then fight again to the death the next time we meet
each other on the battlegrounds of Tierra Glorissa.

While waiting for the Force Blader I start to wonder if those
nightmares were just results of my injury or there was something
prophetic in them connected to this new island. I remember I dreamt
about insects before the passage to the depths of Forgotten Temple 2
was uncovered. I really hope we don’t meet that monster with its huge
tentacles there.

The 6 of us finally got together in front of the cave one
representative of each of the 6 different battle schools in Nevareth.
Always a good combination since our different abilities work very well
like that and we complement each other. We jumped on the ship and
greeted the captain. He explained to us that the journey will be
relatively short and we should arrive safe and fast to the island. He
promised to wait us near the place where we land so we can find the
ship easy. He took our compasses and instructed his crew to head out
into the sea. The journey was indeed short (few hours only) we rarely
spoke about anything since we all had to concentrate and get ready for
the upcoming battles.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Sat Dec 19, 2009 2:55 pm

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

A Journey into the unknown
As soon as we saw the island we summoned our special skills to increase
our fighting abilities as we expected a fight to start as soon as we
get to the shore. But surprisingly when we got to there it was empty no
monsters around us, only sand, sand and rocks everywhere around us.

Looking around for the way to go we saw that the rocks are formed
around us as if they are walls on the two sides of a path, a path
leading somewhere with no chance of going anywhere else. We followed
the path and reached something very strange it looked like a red portal
or a door of some kind and there was something moving inside it,
something alive. No not something - many things. Like shades or ghosts
swimming inside it and blocking our advance.

The ForceBlader stepped forward and started examining it. When he
finished with the portal he started examining the rocky walls next to
it. After half an hour he turned back to us with his face looking very
grim.

- I have no idea what this is. I have never seen anything like it. And
there is nothing that looks like a lock or a mechanism on the rocks
near it that could remove it. We can’t pass through this seal. I guess
our journey was pointless, there is nothing I can do to open it.

As soon as he finished saying that a woman appeared out of nowhere, a
beautiful woman, long gold hair white dress, it took us some time to
realize that she is actually a ghost and not a real living woman.

I approached her hoping she may provide us with some knowledge of the
island and the mysterious seal, but she started talking before I could
even greet her.

- You must be yet another lost adventurer. How did you find your way to
this isolated unknown island? This is strange recently I'm seeing more
and more lost adventurers around here. I’ll help you get back on track,
please leave before you regret.
- Tell us about the island. We are here to explore it.
- You know this is your last chance to change your mind? You are
risking your life by not listening to me. That happened to many
adventurers, and its heartbreaking to see them dead. If you really want
to know more about this island, fine. I’ll tell you what I know. My
name is Arhen. I died a long time ago, but my spirit hasn’t left this
island.
- Nice to meet you, Arhen
- No one knows how long this island has been around, or what
civilizations existed in the past. No historical record or artifacts
are left to support any theory. In this island, only strange creatures
inhabit fighting for their territories.
Some natives appear to be once Humans, but they must have been
influenced by evil magic, evolving them fit to the surroundings. That’s
all I know.
- How did you come to this island?
- “Sigh”… that’s a long, sad story. I’ve lost most of my memories, but I lived in a small village when I was alive.
My village was quiet and peaceful before the invasion of the notorious
pirate Captain Trugust who wielded his power over the world.
He was a bloodthirsty monster whose purpose of life was to kill and
destroy everything. He killed most of my villagers, burned down the
houses, looted us, and then captured the survivors to enslave them.
- Oh… you are one of the captured survivors?
- Yes… I was terrified because I knew how cruel and merciless Captain
Trugust was. Every survivor including me lost hope that we’ll live. On
the way back to his stronghold, we were attacked by Queen Calamity,
near this island. Queen Calamity suddenly appeared from underwater. The
giant monster was not only powerful but also intelligent enough to
evolve itself
- Tell us more about Queen Calamity.
- The natives of this Island feared Queen Calamity. I think she is a
member of the Mutant Clan that has attained some of the power of the
Lord of Destruction during the Great Destruction. To the natives,
everyday was living hell because of her attacks. One day Chief Syarsor
finally decided to take extreme measures to deal with the problem.
- What did he do?
- The chief was a gifted shaman. To minimize the damage, he made an
agreement with Queen Calamity to protect his village and in turn he’ll
sacrifice some of his villagers to her on a regular basis. In return,
Queen Calamity gifted the chief with part of her powers.
- That sounds terrible.
- I know. There were few more terrible incidents afterwards, but then
Queen Calamity soon stopped hunting the villagers and started
coexisting with them peacefully.
Since then, this island became isolated from the world. No one dared to
come because of the dreadful atmosphere caused by the power of Queen
Calamity. I wonder why she dragged our ship and us to the island… Did
she smell our blood?
- What happened to captain Trugust?
- Ah… we don’t have time. If we keep talking, we’ll draw their
attention: Queen Calamity and chief Syarsor. I don’t have the power to
protect you from them. But if we have another chance to meet I’ll tell
you the rest. If you must explore the island I’ll open the Gate of
Vindictive Souls for you. Good luck

She turns around towards the gate as she called it and says some words
in a strange language, unfamiliar to us all. As soon as she finished
the souls disappear and the path is now open.

Still thinking about the meeting with the ghost I order the others to
continue. But just after the next turn not even a mile after we met the
Ghost there is another blockade on the road this time it’s from rocks
that look like they just fell from the sky to block our passage. In
front of them we see a huge lizard creature wearing armor and wielding
an enormous twin battleaxe. It stares at our group but doesn’t seem
impressed at all. It just keeps guarding its rocks.

We charge at it motivated to get pass those rocks and finally start exploring the
island. But the creature raises his battleaxe and smashes it to the
ground. The impact is so mighty and impressive the ground starts to
shake and the mountains surrounding the path we came from vibrate as if
a god has decided to move them. The tremors caused by the creature
knock four of us down to the ground. Only myself and the mighty Procyon
Force Shielder manage to keep our balance and stay upright. Fortunately
all of us are very experienced fighters and few seconds later we are
ready to face the huge lizard again. The Force Shielder starts mumbling
the words for his powerful Shadow Shield spell that will keep us alive
until we are ready to fight the lizard. I collect all my energies and
shout with all my anger towards the skies the words of Fury. We all
concentrate our internal energies and start our battle modes and jump
towards the lizard enraged and ready to remove it from our path. The
battle is hard and long his mighty twin battleaxe smashes us one by one
down to the ground. Thankfully my wife’s healing spells are unmatched
in the whole Nevareth and any damage the Lizard causes to us is
immediately healed up. At the same time it is obvious we are hurting
him pretty badly his wounds are deep and big and we attack with
increasing desire to finish him off. When the lizard realizes his
wounds are getting too much for him to survive he raises his head to
the skies and unleashes a powerful roar:

- I Kias Rodon need your help my Queen.

It takes us few seconds to recover from the surprise and we notice the
lizard is fully healed none of the wounds we inflicted is there
anymore, the lizard looks like we never even attacked him. I quickly
order to the group to dash back a bit out of its range so we can
rethink what to do next. Kias Rodon – apparantly that’s his name -
doesn’t move even a centimeter towards us, he just stays on his post
guarding the blockade knowing we will either go back to him or leave
the island forever.
I gather the group around me so we can discuss our next move. My sister
the wizard casts her Raise Spirit spell so we can all recover our
internal energies for the fight ahead. The ForceBlader tells us about a
weakness he has noticed and we discuss how to use that information to
our advantage. When we are fully healed and recharged with the Force we
turn towards the lizard again. It just keeps staring through us as if
we are not even there. Again all of us cast our battle spells, summon
our Battle Modes and Battle Auras together entering a special powerful
state of mind and body even though it would lead to great exhaustion
when it’s finished, and we charge towards the beast. This time using
the knowledge of the weakness the ForceBlader noticed we are dealing
damage to the lizard much faster than before. The battle is again hard
but much shorter, Kias Rodon noticed our increased damage and decided
to retreat. Maybe scared by our new found strength or just to heal up
like we did, he stopped attacking and charged through the rock blockade
both escaping from the battle and opening the path ahead.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Mon Dec 21, 2009 9:41 am

What will the dusk bring?

My sister decided to chase him using her Blinking and Dashing skills
since nothing moves as fast as a wizard, well until we met Kias he was
running so fast even she was losing him, few seconds later we lost
sight of them both. We started chasing them and then we heard her
scream. I thought he attacked her while she was alone so I started
Dashing like mad to try and get to her, I saw her after the next turn.
We were on a new beach maybe one of the other sides of the island. She
wasn’t fighting Kias but instead was moving backwards and there was a
big field of something green moving towards her. Few more dashes and I
was next to her, the green field was actually a lot of nasty looking
green fishes that had mutated in to the beasts in front of us, almost
as big as me they had big mouth and two front legs, and on the back of
their body they had large tail with three fins and two extra fins on
the sides of the body near the tail. Their movement was quite grotesque
pushing up and forward with their front legs then hitting the ground
with all their fins at the back making some kind of a jump forward and
at the same time spiting some strange green fluid from their mouths.
There was dozens of them a field full of those nasty fishes. While we
were examining them the others managed to catch up. We started
preparing for a battle hoping those creatures are not as strong as the
lizard we met before them. Soon after the fight started we realized
they are a much easier opponent but the problem was in their numbers
they just kept coming and coming no matter how many we slew. Then the
ForceBlader noticed something in the distance and urged us to go check
it out. We started moving forward while fighting the green fish.

Few Whirlwinds later I ended up in front of huge red fish, I guess
that’s what the FB saw. The red fish was 3 times bigger than the green
had the same body structure just everything much bigger including the
mouth. It was a tough battle just because of the sheer number of those
things but we soon managed to kill the big red one, while dying it
released a powerful cry maybe some kind of warning for the green fishes
since they started moving towards the water.

The ForceBlader cut deep into the body of the red fish and opened it up
to examine its internal structure, he stared inside it for a while
flaming up his katana to get some light in there. Then assured us that
the fish even though mutated is still edible and we should remember
that information for when our supplies finish. While waiting for the FB
to satisfy his curiosity we healed up and rested.

We still had few hours before the nightfall so we decided to keep moving.

On the other side of the beach we saw some old familiar looking creatures.

- Ha those are bugdolphys! - shouted the Blader and charged ahead to
dispatch them, thinking they are the same monsters that the kids hunt
for fun in the summer on Port Lux.

He charged his force kick and hit one of them in the head that would
have been lethal to any of bugdolphys we knew on Port Lux, but this one
just turned around and raised his blade ready to attack. The Bugdolphys
are reptilian creatures that populate the southern shores of Port Lux,
near the old Lighthouse, usually armed with primitive weapons and
shields made of big shells. But these ahead of us had mutated in a
strange way.

Their numbers where similar to those of the green fish and their
strength and endurance was about the same. Just as with the fish they
kept coming out of the water no matter how many of them we killed. We
started looking for a bigger one as we thought the pack will have a
leader just like the fish. We soon found it and managed to defeat him
without too much trouble. As soon as their leader was dead the
bugdolphys stopped coming. But then we heard a familiar roar.

It was Kias Rodon again guarding a blockade on the path made of rocks.
This time we were prepared we knew how to fight him. So we just buffed
up with our special powers and charged at him ignoring the few still
attacking us bugdolphys. The fight wasn’t too long this time but he
managed to escape again just before we kill him. And again he destroyed
the blockade on the patch while retreating.

The path ahead surprised us it was no longer the sandy rock-walled
beach. There was a forest and grass, it felt like we enter a completely
new place. It was so calm and beautiful, we started wondering if we
entered some parallel reality or is this the same monster infested
island that we were on few minutes ago. Not long after heading deeper
into the forest we saw some human looking figures ahead of us. Are
those the natives Arhen told us of?

They had brownish skin typical for people living on a sunny island.
Their equipment looked interesting. All of them carried a barrel on
their back and were armed with some strange spear-like looking tool
made of a long wooden handle and ending with a curved bone on the front
end. They were collecting some strange plants with this tool and stored
them in the barrels on their back. Maybe they where the local farmers,
happy to finally meet some intelligent form of life we ran ahead to
greet them.
As soon as they heard us - all of them turned towards us. I’m not sure
if they got scared of the view of a group of fully armed adventurers
running towards them or they had lost their ability to think rationally
but all of them raised their spear-like tools and took a battle ready
position. We immediately stopped running hoping we can still talk with
these people but we were not given the chance. They charged towards us,
shouting in some strange language. We were forced to defend ourselves
and killed some of them in the battle.
The survivors started retreating slowly deeper into the forest, after
the next turn we realized they were not retreating but actually luring
us into a trap. There was a huge group of those farmers ahead of us and
in front of them there was this bigger humanoid waving two strange
wands in his hands. The wands were on fire and looked like normal
torches. But there was something sinister in them. The person holding
them stepped forward and shouted in standard Nevarethian:

- I’m chief Syarsor and you shall pay for trespassing on my island and
killing my servants. I will feed my Queen with your remains.

Before finishing his threats the shaman chief of which Arhen spoke
attacked us with some strange burning energy from his wands. His people
also joined the fight. Even though we got caught by surprise in this
situation we managed to form a battle formation and to start defending
ourselves from the nonstop attack of the natives and their chief. Our
whole life was spent in training how to fight and our experience paid
off we soon reached the chief walking above the bodies of his dead
followers. He was a tough opponent he kept attacking with his fire
bolts from his wands, and his followers kept charging us from all
sides.
The fight with the chief was exhausting, but soon we started
prevailing. When the chief realized he was going to lose his life, he
just vanished, I suspect he teleported away to some place where he can
heal up and prepare better for fighting us, this was bad news the fight
with him was really hard and exhausting I wonder what his abilities
will be when he is prepared.
But unfortunately we didn’t have time to think too much about it as his
followers were still attacking us from all sides. It took as about an
hour more to kill enough of them to force the rest to retreat.
They ran deep in to the forest between the palm trees.
We decided it’s pointless to chase them no chance to survive in that
forest especially if they know all the little secret paths. So we
decided to stay on the main road and keep going forward. Our only
chance was to face the chief before he has gathered his full powers.
Maybe we’ll be able to reason with him, and make some kind of deal that
could benefit both sides. While walking through the forest we got
carried away in the conversation about the meeting with the chief and
his people discussing if we made a mistake there, if we could have
somehow evaded the clash or maybe it was not possible because of the
influence that mysterious monster Arhen talked about has over them.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Tue Dec 22, 2009 10:48 am

We didn’t even realize we had walked out of the forest until we saw the
familiar green field ahead of us. We had reached another of the beaches
of the island and there was a new group of those green fish ahead. We
stopped for few seconds looking around trying to find the red leader
fish, it was not hard now when we know what we were looking for it was
after all so much bigger than the rest. When we saw it in the middle of
the other green fish the ForceBlader charged ahead rooted the big red
fish and started luring all the green fish out of the our way when all
of the green fish was nicely packed together and far enough from the
red he cursed them all with his field of execration spell making them
unable to move. With all the green fish out of our way the red was an
easy target and we killed it fast. Few minutes later and we cleared the
way ahead from the green fish also.

It was starting to get dark we had maximum an hour or so before the
nightfall. We didn’t really want to head back in to the forest and the
smell from the dead mutated fish at this spot was not making it more
attractive so we decided to try and find a suitable rest location ahead
of us.

Surprisingly there was nothing ahead of us just pure yellow sand as far
as we can see. After half an hour of walking we reached another Gate of
Vindictive Souls the same strange red seal that we found as soon as we
landed on the shores of this strange island. The ForceBlader turned to
us ad just raised his shoulders showing us he can’t do anything about
it.
There was no sign of Arhen either. And then we heard them.

A lot of screams coming from all around us, actually it was not around us but above us.
I raised my head fortunately just in time to see the incoming attack of
a pack of harpies we quickly dashed back and evaded their initial
attack of these flying beasts. While they were landing in front of us
we had time to look at them better they had the familiar wings and
almost human structure of the harpies we know from Lake in Dusk and
Lakeside but at the same time they were very different.
They had very beautiful wings starting brown near their body and slowly
becoming bright orange near the edge. It looked like their feathers are
on fire. Similar to the other groups of monsters that we met before
they kept coming and coming no matter how many we kill, it was time to
look for their pack leader. We saw him near the gate dashing back from
the initial attack we had moved quite far away from it but there was
this bigger harpy there. Instead of orange feathers it had purple.

We looked at each other and agreed that we should charge for it instead
of trying to beat the ever increasing number of the other harpies. Few
minutes later and we managed to reach it. The battle was quick we were
already getting familiar with the strengths of the monsters on this
island so we were prepared. After we killed the leader harpy it dropped
a strange shiny gem.

The ForceBlader took it in his hand and started examining it. And then
Arhen appeared out of nowhere like the last time we saw her.

- That gem you are holding is a Soul Stone. Syarsor, the chief of the
natives, uses such Soul Stones to control Evil Spirits. Of course, the
chief uses stones that are much bigger and stronger than this. Rumor
has it that he is the only one who can control the Requiem Necklace.
Even his sons cannot do it. You have found this stone under the
feathers of “Mucha” haven’t you? Muchas like shiny stuff they keep many
such stones in their lairs.
- Let’s show the stone to Arhen - I say to the ForceBlader
- You can find this stone everywhere on this island. I’ve been here
long enough to develop an ability to use this stone and hold lesser
evil spirits. If you give me this stone I’ll open the Gate of
Vindictive souls ahead of you. I can’t open anymore gates without the
stone because I exhausted all of my power to open the previous gate.

The ForceBlader gives her the stone, and she starts using its power to
open the gate. Few seconds later the seal of shadows swimming in the
air is gone, Arhen turns to us and wishes us save passage ahead,
disappearing at the same time.

The next area was very small it has a campfire in the middle of a small
clearing and another Gate of Vindictive Souls blocking the path ahead.
Behind it we can see a village. It’s quiet and no people can be seen in
it. We can’t advance ahead and is already getting too dark, so we
decide to rest near the campfire for the night.
We talk for few minutes and agree on what order we’ll stay awake on
watch since the chief could attack us in the middle of the night.

I take the first night watch after me it’s my wife’s turn. We gather
near the warmth of the campfire the others fall asleep very quickly
probably exhausted from the long day behind us. I should stay on watch
for an hour before I wake my wife but I decide to let her sleep more
and stay awake during her hour also without waking her up. Also I’m not
exactly in a hurry to return to the nightmares I had last night and
we’ll need her to be in good shape tomorrow so we can count on her
healing.

I wonder what that shaman chief is preparing for us while I clean my
armors and Greatsword from the different parts of fish and monsters on
them. The Greatsword is in perfect shape as always I’m so thankful for
the Soul Blade spell that the instructor in Bloody Ice taught me few
months ago. He said it’s a recently rediscovered spell lost in the
times of the great destruction, when the Lord of Destruction almost
destroyed us all. It’s a very potent spell that keeps the edge of any
blade or sword sharp no matter what it has to cut through. When I
finish with my equipment I take my wife’s items to clean them also.
We’ve been fighting together for so many years that I know how to
handle her topaz crystals almost as good as my sword.

When I finish with that I see on my communicator that almost two and a
half hours have passed since the others went to sleep so I decide to
wake the Shielder and get some rest to prepare my body for the battles
ahead.

I fall asleep very fast, I’m probably still not fully healed from the
blow of the Blader in Tierra Gloriossa. The exhaustion is so big that I
even forget the fact that he is actually sleeping 2 meters away from me
on an island infested by strange new monsters. My sleep is dark and
calm no dreams no nightmares. I guess my mind is too exhausted for such
travels so it just blocked itself during the short rest.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

Post by murasame_85 on Wed Dec 23, 2009 1:47 pm

The fall of the mighty Shielder!!

I wake up when the first sunbeams touch my face the next morning.
My sister and the ForceBlader are cooking breakfast, it smells strange.
I approach them trying not to wake up the rest of the party and see a
strange mix of red and green meat on a stick in the fire.

- Ughh what is that?
- The fish we killed last night, smiles the ForceBlader.
- Maybe it’s time to wake the others, suggests my sister.
- I’ll wake them I prefer not to look at what you guys are cooking here.

I wake up the other 3 members of the expedition. After a short nagging
from my wife why I stayed up so late and didn’t wake her up we start
eating.
The fish tastes awful, even worse than it smells. But we need to eat
something or we won’t have the strength for the challenges ahead of us
today.

The villagers are also starting to wake up, unlike the farmers yesterday these are armed for war!

Half of them carry two battleaxes one in each hand and have no armor at
all, they look very agile and deadly. The others have only one axe but
carry huge shields in their second hand.
I’m almost thankful that the path between us and them is blocked by the
gate. They have painted their bodies with some strange white markings
that look sinister on their brown skin. They start to gather on the
path that leads deeper in to the village after the gate, and sing
battle songs trying to inflict our minds with fear.

After the breakfast we start looking around the small campfire for
something that may help us open the gate ahead and face our destiny. I
just realized the fire was burning when we arrived to this clearing and
is still burning with the same power without any new wood added from
us. I decide to take a closer look at it and notice in the center
something small like a brooch.

It looks calm and cold even though it is surrounded by burning flames.
As soon as I stretch my hand into the flames towards the “thing” we
hear a loud angry yell!

- How dare you touch my holy treasure! You won’t be forgiven!

Then the gate Arhen opened last night reappears. We are now trapped
between two gates in the small clearing with the campfire. And he
suddenly appears just as he vanished last night. The Chief-Shaman
Sayrsor but this time he brings a dozen of his soldiers to fight us.

The armed villagers are definitely a much bigger challenge then the
farmers we met last night and it’s only a dozen of them, we saw
hundreds behind the gate. We manage to quickly get rid of the villagers
and focus on the chief but then he vanishes just like he did last
night.
What is going on is he afraid to face us or he is just trying to weaken us before we enter some trap inside the village?
With the chief gone I go back to the campfire and reach within it to get the small item I saw earlier.
As soon as I grab it I stop feeling the heat from the flames around my
hand, as if the little item is somehow protecting me from the fires. I
take it out and try to examine it better, but no luck, removing the
item from the fires also removed both Gates of Vindictive Souls, the
path to the village was now open for us and for the soldiers waiting
with in it.

They didn’t give us even a second and immediately charged towards us.
Slowly but surely we started making our way inside the village. The
native warriors just kept coming out of the houses in an endless wave.
We soon reached the base of a big staircase on top if it we could see
the biggest house in the village – maybe that is where the chief lives.
But there was a small problem the staircase had two of the now familiar
seals, we had to find a way to open them before we can reach him. So we
ignored the staircase for a while and kept going into the village
looking for something that may help us.

Around the next corner we see a bigger villager in front of a house
built a bit above the path shouting some commands to the warriors
around him, maybe he is some sort of a captain.

When he saw us he shouted:

- I’m Riolt and your journey ends here!

He is much better armed than the warriors around him, his shield is
bigger and beautifully decorated. All of the warriors around him also
charge towards us, and then behind us appeared the Chief with even more
backup. This is starting to look as a tough battle around 30 of the
native warriors and both the chief and his captain attacking us from
all sides.

We decided to focus on the chief first, knowing he’ll probably run away
soon. Hoping that the collateral damage we deal with our skills and
spells will be enough to kill the warriors around him, as we expected
the chief teleported away soon after we focused on him.

It was time to face his captain. He is a tough well trained warrior and
it shows by the way he moves and attacks. But the six of us manage to
defeat him.

From the height of his house we had a very good view of the whole
village. The First Gate of Vindictive Souls on the staircase had
disappeared, maybe there is one more captain we need to find. Looking
around the village we also notice two other beautiful houses one is in
the middle of the big staircase and the other is across the path from
our position. In front of both of them are 2 young natives well dressed
looking like educated people. Maybe we can talk with them? Try to stop
this stupid unnessecary slaughter. Filled with hope that we may evade
further bloodshed we run towards the closest native that is just across
the path. When he saw us he greeted us instead of attacking:

- Do I know you? I don’t know how you came here, but you must leave
unless you want to die and become an earth bound-spirit. Ohh, wait…
Is that Fire Protection in your hand? May I ask how you obtained it? Did you defeat my father, Chief Sayrsor?
- Yes, I didn’t know he was your father.
- I can’t believe my father was defeated. I always thought only Queen
Calamity could do it. I’m Areptify. It’s a shame, but I’m locked here
by my brother because he doesn’t want me to become the next chief of
the village. I don’t blame him or anyone else. I’m just concerned about
my father; he has turned into a monster after he gave up the island to
Queen Calamity.
- What happened to your father?
- My father has a family heirloom called Requiem Necklace. It’s a
mysterious artifact that can appease and enlighten earth-bound spirits.
Unfortunately, my father is abusing the power of the necklace for his
selfish needs. Blinded by greed for power, just like Queen Calamity, he
is using the necklace to turn many lives into vindictive souls and
collect them. At the beginning, it was probably to fight Queen
Calamity. But it has become an obsession now, to collect more souls.
- Is there anything we can do to stop him?
- I want to set the poor souls free. We can reclaim the island from
Queen Calamity without turning the innocent into vindictive souls.
Stranger, I beg you:
Please take the Requiem Necklace form my father Sayrsor. Take heed to
open the path to him you’ll have to face his second guard. Oh, please
leave the fire protection to me. It can’t fall into the hands of my
father again.

We leave the fire protection to Areptify and continued to look for the other captain.

Hacking and slashing our way through the native warriors that keep
coming in huge waves we manage to get to the other side of the village
where we see another Gate of Vindictive Souls. Behind it we see another
beach, but in front of it there is a small house. Outside the house
stands one almost black native much darker skinned then the rest of the
natives. His Shield is huge and very beautifully decorated. This must
be the other captain. We form battle formation and move slowly towards
him. He is yet another veteran warrior, the way he stands, it feels as
if he radiates power and its shown in the respectful eyes of his
followers. They will fight to the death by his side. And his mighty
shield looks like an inpassable barrier for our attacks. But we now
have a mission more important than just exploring a new island. We have
to free the trapped souls.

So we focus all our strengths and quickly defeat the chief’s guard. We
decide not to fight our way back to the stairs so we just dash through
the surprised natives that keep coming from all sides of the village.

When we reach the stairs I remember the smaller house we saw in the
middle of the stairs with the other well-dressed native. So I order the
party to stop there maybe he can give us more information. He just
looks at us with disgust and shouts:

- You already have a deal with my brother leave me alone!

We decide to honor his wish and keep climbing the never ending staircase.

After few minutes we finally reach the plateau on top, the Chief’s
house is really magnificent. And there in front of the house in the
middle of the plateau we see him, waiting for us. His wands are burning
so bright and he has that strange look in his eyes common for people
determined to fight until the very end. I guess this is it – the final
fight – he is not going to run this time.

He starts hitting us with fire bolts from his wands we buff up our special buffs and charge towards him.

The ForceShielder decides it’s time to use his most potent spell –
Mortal Bane. He stays a bit behind us all and kneels down while
chanting the special words of power. That is a very powerful but also
immensely dangerous spell that will increase his attacking powers but
will also make him vulnerable to the enemy attacks. When he finished
with his chanting he stands up, there is something special in the air
around him now and his blade is surrounded by a mighty red aura.
Glowing and burning at the same time although without any real flames.
He waits until our battle with the chief starts and then starts dashing
around the edge of the plateau trying to circle the chief and get
behind him. As soon as he found a suitable location he starts sending
his mighty magic cannons towards the chief. Empowered by the aura of
his Mortal Bane and the special force of the Crushing Blade red globe
circling around him, he is dealing insane amount of damage.

Fire, Crystal, Stone, Lightning …

His cannons smash one after the other in the body of the chief. And
then when we start believing we are going to finally kill him, the
chief shouts:

- Fire Giant come to my aid!

A huge manifestation of flame and rocks appears out of nowhere and charges towards the ForceShielder.

That … That is the thing I dreamed about!

The Fire Giants smashes the ForceShielder in his weak Mortal Bane state
with just one blow. The death came so fast he didn’t even have the time
to say a word. His surprise was still visible on his face and into the
depths of his eyes, while he was falling to the ground his body twisted
in an unnatural position proof that he has passed to the world beyond
ours.

We didn’t have time to look at him even for a second more as we
realized the Fire Giant was now charging towards us. We kept attacking
the chief but he had entered some strange berserk mode when he summoned
his helper. He was totally invulnerable to our attacks, my Greatsword
was jumping from his skin as if I’m hitting a rock and not the fragile
body of a shaman.

I immediately ordered the group to dash down the stairs out of the
reach of the invincible chief. The fire giant followed us. I looked at
the skies and released a battle cry in an attempt to improve the Morale
of my companions. Together the five of us managed to defeat the
flaming-rock.

My sisters went up the stairs and sent few cannons towards the chief to
test if he is still invincible. Apparently his super powers ended when
we killed the fire giant, so he was vulnerable to our attacks again.

Inspired by the fact that we can finally end this battle we all charged
towards the shaman. He immediately shouted for back up summoning native
warriors and other fire giants to help him. But this time he didn’t
enter the berserk state like last time. So we managed to finally defeat
him.

Ghosts, so many ghosts...

After the dust from the battle settled down we went to see the
ForceShielder, and then we all smiled, he was indeed a smart
experienced soldier, he had some odd circles on himself. The small
artifacts from the ancient times preserve the spirit of a fallen hero
and allow his friends to resurrect him.

We quickly raised him, and the six of us went to the body of the chief.
He had a strange purple necklace around his neck – this is probably the
Requiem Necklace Areptify told us about. I took it and we headed down
the long staircase to his house to ask him what to do with it.

- You’ve brought the Requiem Necklace… that means my father is gone… He
wanted to keep us save from Queen Calamity. That’s why he started using
the necklace. Unfortunately, time has changed him. He employed
vindictive souls for his selfish need and sacrificed innocent
adventurers to Queen Calamity.
His existence became rather harm than good to us…
Regardless, it breaks my heart to accept my father’s death… - He then
made a small pause unable to continue the story through his tears. – I
always wanted to destroy this necklace. So I was waiting for a strong
warrior to defeat my father and bring me the necklace. Now the time has
come, but I can’t… I can’t destroy it. I don’t deserve to do so. Oh
yes, please bring it to Arhen… she’s the first one my father
sacrificed. I still can’t forgive myself because I didn’t have enough
power to save more people than her… Let me give the necklace back to
you. – While handing the necklace to me he explained we can probably
find the ghost lady at the place where we killed his father.
After climbing the great stairs again, we saw Arhen standing at the
middle of the plateau, next to the still warm body of the Shaman-Chief.
She saw or sensed the necklace in my hand:

- You’ve brought the Requiem Necklace! Thank you, now the poor souls
can be set free from this necklace. You know, I’ve been worried about
your safety because many adventurers didn’t listen to me and ended up
killed by Queen Calamity or turned into Vindictive Souls by Sayrsor.
I’m so glad you’ve come back safely and brought me this necklace.
- What do we do about this necklace?
- If you give it to me, I’ll try my best to destroy it. Then the souls
inside the necklace will be set free. Thanks to Areptify; I was able to
remain unaffected by Sayrsor’s curse, and now I can help other souls.
Now I hope I can leave this island.

I give the necklace to the ghost, although my hand passes freely
through her body, she is somehow able to hold the necklace. She takes
it with both her hands and starts casting some strange spell, as with
all her other spells none of us is able to understand a word of the
language she uses. Few seconds later a light emerges in the center of
the necklace and blows out in all directions. The parts of the necklace
now without any magic properties fall through Arhen’s hands down to the
ground. And then an enormous energy is unleashed from them going up in
the skies, with a strangely familiar bone-chilling shout coming from
all directions:

- Muhahaha I’m back and nothing can stop me! DIEEE!

I remember that shout it was in one of my nightmares. I look at Arhen
hoping for some kind of explanation but I only see an empty look in her
eyes and then a grimace of great fear. She disappears soon after that.

Something has gone terribly wrong.

The echo of the shout is still ringing in my ears and then I remember
what came after the shout in my dream… ghosts. But the plateau is
empty, now that Arhen is gone there are no ghosts up here. I tell the
others about my dream and the ForceBlader says:

- Well my friend seems like these dreams of yours are once again
materializing in our world. – Pointing down towards the village.

I turn around and look down the stairs towards the village – the whole
area is grey as if some strange mist is covering the ground in and
around the village.

- I wonder what we can do now? Any ideas what could have gone wrong destroying the necklace?
- Tell us a bit more about your dream, maybe there are some clues in it – says the Blader.
- Well, I remember I was on some strange ship in my dream, could it be the ship we came on ?
- No – says my wife while pointing to something in the distance that I
can’t see, but she is an archer after all her sight is unmatched –
There is a ship on that beach, the beach we saw behind the Gate of
Vindictive Souls near the house of the second captain.
- Let’s go check it – suggests the Blader.

Not waiting for our answer the ForceShielder starts dashing down the
stairs, forgetting that his body was laying spiritless few minutes ago.

The town is full of both male and female ghosts none of them looks
friendly as Arhen did. And that is proven very fast, as soon as they
notice the ForceShielder they charge to him with raised hands ready for
attack.

I immediately start running down but the Blader who is already on the stairs raises his hand and says with a smile on his face:

- Wait, you are about to witness something that you’ve not seen before.

The ForceShielder keeps dashing through the ghosts towards the middle
of the town. They keep hitting him while he passes near them but with
no noticeable damage to his mighty armor. He is actually very well
equipped fighter with tremendous endurance and if it wasn’t for the
curse of the Mortal Bane spell he would have probably never even felt
the hit of that Fire Giant.

As soon as he reaches the center of the village which is on the path
between the houses of the two captains and Areptify, he stops and
starts casting a spell. The Blader was right I’ve not seen that spell
before, and I thought I knew all there is to be known about the force
and the spells the different schools teach.

- It’s similar to Provocation – says the Blader – but with an area of
effect, taunting all monsters around him. He is calling it Field of
Provocation – we discovered it on an old scroll few days ago.

The ForceShielder finishes the spell and immediately all the ghosts from the whole village start charging towards him.

- Now we can go – grins the Blader, and dashes down the stairs to help his vice captain.

Re: Forbidden Island - Story Teaser

While we run towards the center of the village we see the
ForceShielder. Violently killing ghost after ghost using his most
powerful techniques: Shield Splinter, Shield Break, Blade of Judgment
and again and again. The Ghosts that don’t die from one hit just stay
stunned in front of him as if waiting for the next hit. It’s a
spectacular show to watch - his shield is flying all around the small
road hitting ghost after ghost and the phantom copies of his blade
smash into the ghosts releasing a strange sound when both ethereal
energies clash. By the time we reach him he has killed most of the
ghosts and just a few wander around. We kill them quickly and start
walking on the now empty road towards the house of the second captain.

- I thought you are follower of the Magic path of the Force – My sister asks while walking next to the ForceShielder.
- Nah I refuse to limit myself using only magic or sword. I choose to
wield both in battle. Some call me Hybrid, others refuse to accept this
is the real path of the ForceShielder and laugh at me, but they’ll all
learn in time.
- But isn’t it very hard to find equipment that can supplement both types of the force?
- Extremely hard and expensive – grins the Blader.
- Oh yes, It was hard, but now I enjoy true power!

Carried away in the conversation we didn’t realize that we reached the
place where the Gate of Vindictive Souls used to be but the ghosts on
the beach were not so careless, they immediately attacked us when they
saw us.
The battle was not too hard we, or actually the ForceShielder, had
killed most of them in the village. So we started cleaning our way
towards the ship that my wife saw from the height of the chief’s final
resting place. After passing a group or rocks blocking the path to the
sea we finally saw it. It was just as in my dream – Huge ship, split in
half and tilted at a strange angle - all of its internal cabins and
corridors where visible from where we stood.
One of the masts had fallen and was forming something like a bridge
from the sandy shore to the ship itself, and at its end stood a bigger
version of the male ghosts blocking the path after it. One by one we
walked on the mast and got to the ghost that was blocking our path.

He was a much tougher opponent then the ghosts we previously
encountered but with the combined power of all of us we managed to
defeat him. We started walking unsure of our balance on the old planks
that used to be the main deck of the ship. Five of us made it on the
main deck, the ForceBlader was still struggling on the mast and then
the ghost we just killed reappeared blocking his way to us. We
immediately charge towards the ghost but were unable to harm him at
all. Some strange force was preventing attacks from the ship to harm
the ghost. So the Ascetic one was forced to fight the ghost alone and
try to reach us before we face the source of the shout we heard
earlier. We give up trying to hit the ghost from our position and turn
around to examine the ship.

Unfortunately we didn’t have time to admire the once beautiful artwork
put into the carvings and ornaments on this once magnificent ship,
because ghosts started appearing all around us. They kept coming in
huge groups as if they were the waves of the great sea - group after
group. They seemed endless so many ghosts, we must have killed hundreds
of them and they just kept coming and coming.

I stopped for a second to catch my breath and decided to summon my
Force Scythe. It’s a special Force weapon that I can summon when in
very tough battles. It took me about a minute to finish the summoning
and the absence of my sword was starting to be visible on the tiny
battlefield of the half ship. The ghosts had started to surround us
from all sides and pressing us towards the middle mast that had somehow
survived the challenges of time and the destruction caused by Queen
Calamity to this ship.

Then I started swinging my scythe its special force-matter was cutting
through the ghosts as a hot knife through butter. One after the other
as the waves they come with the groups of ghosts started to vanish.
Swinging my Scythe left and right like an almighty Reaper sending these
spirits to their final rest, I missed the fact that they had actually
stopped coming. Soon we managed to kill them all, and then she appeared
- it was a bigger version of the female ghosts but still not much of a
problem. Was that the source of the shout? Or it was simply the last
guardian before him?

We didn’t have to wait long to find out as the answer came into the form of another shout:

- Muhahaha! I smell the wind! I’m back to the sea! I’m back to life! Everyone, bow before me – Captain Trugust!

Unlike last time the shout was not all around us, its source was
starting to materialize in front of us – a ghost of a man, dressed in
black and red, looking like a sea captain, armed with a huge cutlass.
That… that cutlass I remember it from my dreams.

He didn’t hesitate even for a second and charged directly at us.
Slashing down with his mighty weapon to the left then to the right his
attacks kept coming just like the waves of ghosts we had to face
earlier. The movement of his cutlass was strange as if he was trying to
carve a five pointed star in our bodies left to right then down then
up. His weapon was somehow enchanted maybe from the time spent inside
the Requiem Necklace. It had a bright red glow around it and his
strange movements left a red trace for a second after the sword had
moved.

I summoned my battle aura extending the duration of my Scythe’s
existence in this world, and started answering his attacks, even though
the ForceBlader was still trapped out of the battlefield the five of
use managed to force the captain to retreat. He just vanished as fast
as he appeared, only to reappear a second later on the front terrace of
the ship, there was another guard blocking our way to him so we decided
to wait for the ForceBlader to catch us up before we chase the Captain.

Apparently that was not liked by Trugust as he casted some spell and
the ghosts that we fought earlier started reappearing - the main deck
was once again filling with the gray mist of the ghost waves. At that
moment the ForceBlader finally made it and defeated the guard clearing
his way towards us. He didn’t waste time resting and just rooted all
ghosts to their positions, that allowed us to quickly get rid of them
before my scythe disappeared back into the world of the Force, some
time will need to pass before I can summon it again, I start to wonder
if it wasn’t too soon that I summoned it – now I’ll be unable to use it
against the Captain. Not letting me think too much about it Trugust
shouted at us again:

- You are still alive, huh? But this will be your last moment. I’m
going to have fun with you! I’ll crush you to death! Muhahaha!

His laughter was slowly carried away by the breeze and then echoed back
from the rocks behind the ship. A sinister feeling started crawling up
my spine. I was feeling something bad will soon happen, is this one of
my prophetic visions, this time happening out of the realm of dreams?

The Captain charged down the stairs passing through his guard and
attacking us, at the same time his faithful ghosts started reappearing
again. It was going to be a hard battle – the captain and the ghosts
together. I ordered the party to focus on Trugust hoping the ghosts
will stop attacking us if we defeat him. But he ran again.

- ARGHHHH - I shouted - STOP running and face us coward!
- You rascal! I won’t let you get away with this! No one in the world
can defeat me! Consider this is your burial ground! – shouted Captain
Trugust as he reappeared on the back terrace of the ship.

As with the Chief I felt this will be our last battle with the ghost
captain. It was either him or us walking off the ship. The back terrace
was guarded by 2 more of his guards, but he casted some spell and all 4
of his special guards disappeared even the one that kept the
ForceBlader out of the ship. Their 4 shadows moved in to the captain
somehow enchanting him. He flew above the stairs down to the main deck.

We were waiting for him in a battle formation, I was standing in front
ready to great him again with my GreatSword. But unlike the two
previous fights we had with him he didn’t charge at us instead he
stopped like 5 meters away from me and started casting a spell or maybe
a curse…

Then I felt it, I remember that feeling from my dream total
overwhelming weakness. I was unable to move a centimeter forward and
all my magic force was drained. Then he started casting another of his
curses – a hundred tiny wounds opened all over my body, small drops of
blood coming out of each of them. I fell down on my knees from the
pain. But we had to defeat him, we had no choice:

- WE SHALL PREVAIL! – I shouted while starting to stand up, first the
right leg, then I used my sword to push myself up, as if it was a
crutch.

Surprised by my strength the captain stared towards me for a second
then just twisted his cutlass in the air pronouncing another curse. The
tiny wounds on my body instantly tripled.

There were so many of them, I felt as if my skin is flayed from my
body. And from each and every one of them blood kept coming out in
small droplets, as if my body was weeping tears of blood. The blood
drops started connecting to each other on their path down my body
forming small streams of blood. The streams also connected and formed
rivers, rivers of blood that somehow found few weak spots in my armor
and made it out.

I guess at that time the others realized what actually is happening to
me as the blood rivers were coloring my shiny white-blue armor red.

I looked down and saw a small red pool forming at my feet, then
everything went black. I felt how I hit the ground with my back, I
heard the scream of my sister and then the sound of my GreatSword
hitting the wooden floor of the main deck next to my head. And in the
background of all these sounds I hear his laughter...

To be continued...
