Teaching Science & Math in BM or BI?

I'm sure most of you are aware of this current issue...The question is, is it relevant to teach Science & Math (or any other subject, for that matter) in Bahasa Malaysia or English?

i think it should teaching in malay because malay is our mother tongue... every body can understand bm

sepatutnya industri penukaran bahasa dkt malaysia bergiat aktif dalam menukar buku, jurnal yang berkaitan teknologi,sains dsbgnya......

cuba lihat dulu ketika bagaimana cendiakawan islam menterjemah buku buku bahasa yunani/greek kedalam bahasa arab... kemudian mereka mendalami ilmu dan seterusnya memahami ilmu yang lain...

ketika perang salib, kebanyakan buku2 cendiakawan arab dibawa lari dan kemudian mereka terjemah kedalam bahasa mereka sendiri... so dari situ baru mereka dapat tahu ilmu sains dan ilmu yang lainnya...dan bermula lah zaman revolusi eropah...

klu blajar dlm bm je, jd jaguh kampung je la..
gi luar negara di mana ilmu lg bnyk blh diperoleh, jd blur mcm x blajar ape2 pon..

I strongly suggest using BI.

I think the main concern now is either:

• kids today can't adjust to english from malay
  
• the teachers/lecturers are having difficulties teaching in english.
  

I think this situation is a natural "leveling out" response; no good change happens overnight. I look at my classmates today & quite a number can't really understand text (that aren't that difficult) in English.

We have to accept that English is now the lingua franca & it'll be silly for us to deny our slice of that pie (the pie being advancement & technology).

Then again, I'm not a good model of representing my mother tongue...we'll see what others will say

Well, i still voting we use BM
but, looking at the situation now..
i think its best for us to just preserve what we have now..
change it back will only give a burden to younger generation..

If we want to preserve BM so that it won't lost.. its very easy..
any debate in parlimen must be in BM..
heh.. its a good idea right??
What I can see, some MP's does not use BM when debating in the Parliment...

And another is, I think we can make exception to the Malay dominated state, like Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah..
as almost 90% of its population are Malay,
they have a authority to even implemented a Jawi manuscript in its officials writing...

all of my anak buah that at primary and secondary hate sains because of this... they all said it is difficult...

i still with my opinion change to BM....

ok, here is my experience la. I'm from a malay school, yeap. So, i speak BM since i was standard 1 until form3-4 when they started to apply english in sciences. The process i underwent while changing all my knowledge(mindset) from BM to BI is rather difficult, u have to translate everything to BI and put it back together in test papers, it really sxxx. its even harder to change scientific terms from BM to BI. kinda confused last time. hahahaha

so the point here is, why don't we just study english in sciences at the very beginning? because it originates that way, and its internationally used. its better for student who prefer going oversea after f5 rite?

p/s im not saying that it shouldn work in BM, but i'm looking at the majority side. no offense k. peace

^Not that it shouldn't work in BM...It did work but the problem is the WORLD didn't change. Sure we have some people who have no problem with the change or has very little issues with it but many more can't survive out with "kalium hidroksida" etc. Plus it's not easy to translate a WHOLE chunk of terms into malay...Radin's right, it's pointless to switch back to BM because we're gonna suffer if they keep switching back & forth.

but i think why science and math... lebih2 lagi math... sebab kebanyakan number je (melainkan math yang kita belajar ni la...)
kalau camtu baik ubah semua kepada BI...geo, sejarah, add math, perdagangan, prisip akaun dan kebanyakan yang BM...

sebab aku fikir persekitaran membentuk kepenggunaan BI tu...

macam aku skrg dah boleh ber BI sebab persekitaran.sblm ni aku belajar BM.... masuk matrik pembelajaran dalam BI, pengajaran still guna BI/BM... masuk sini full english...

haaha..i m also strongly agree using BI.Coz why.. i m come from
"Sekolah Kampung" that totally using BM for the hold learning. There is
no way for me n myfrends there to practise/improve my BI language.. n
the result u can see my BI language here so tunggang langgang..hahaha..n yang paling teruk..i got8E for my BI for SPM.. n the latest one..i got 2 for my MUET..hahahaa

guna BM pun dah ramai yg fail....

that why la i said... why they choose math and science to improve BI... i think to improve BI use the subject that using BI a lot like sejarah, geo and many subject...

Subject like History only for those who wants to be a lawyer. Even when you enrolled in judiciary, there will be another 4 or 5 other language that you must learn..
While geography required for a pilot, or an archeologist..

Science and math is currently the most widely used..
Especially for doctor, engineers, architect and etc...

dah la... malas lagi nak pikir...aku tgk je kemampuan anak2 buah aku nanti... kalau dorang tak leh, aku ajar je balik...

kt matrik n u ak blaja bi plak.. pun bleh paham gak..
tp ak rasa better klu skola rendah blaja dlm bm.. pastu masuk skola mngh baru blaja dlm bi..
