UMP Knowledge Management Center/Perpustakaan

I'm now signing in from a PC at the KMC. I prefer using the old name (coz I don't hear it being used so often since it moved to its new location)

So here's a quick poll to see how often you folks come to the KMC, plus do discuss issues related to the KMC, ie. things you like, things you want to improve etc.

Issues:

1. KIOS Peminjaman Buku: Very efficient, I'm still figuring out how it works plus convenient. I do hope for more kiosks though, 1 isn't enough!

2. KIOS Pemulangan Buku "Book Drop": I was curious to see how this works; like in (1), I still can't figure out how it works but it is convenient, I do think there can be a simple OP (operating procedure) with pictures to show how it works, I don't want it to be damaged!

3. Computer lab: Not all computers are the same (in terms of having the same software(s) ) & now that the internet problem is widespread across UMP, it's no wonder that it's always "penuh". I think it would be better if the staff sets a 1 hr period for users; using the PC for longer than 1 hour will be charged accordingly. This'll give fair usage to everyone.

4. Book request: I wonder if they would ever let students suggest books for the library's collection, especially for non-academic books...

5. The on-going book exhibition is a good idea but I think the KMC can do more outreach programs, like organizing reading clinics with school kids from the nearby areas & establishing a book club.

That's my 2 cents, feel free to add more!

miss it very easy to use that kiosk..... very efficient i think...
the procedure same for both pinjam and pulang, but different at step three i think...

let me show:
1. tekan bahasa pilihan-> BM atau BI
2. scan matrik anda pada ruang yang disediakan....
3. untuk pinjam buku, letakkan atas meja/scanner dia. kalau pinjam banyak pon boleh letak serentak.
- untuk pulang buku, masukkan pada ruangan seperti peti surat ditepi mesin tu...dia memang akan terbuka apabila kad id di scan. masukkan dengan perlahan agar scanner dapat mengimbas buku tu...
4. tekan diakhiri dengan cetak utk bm.(untuk bi aku tak tahu...)

tips: pastikan nama buku ada pada skrin sebelum cetak, kalau takde, masih tak berjaya lagi...

cadangan:

1. buku perlu banyak lagi...
2. ruangan interior kalau boleh cantikkan lagi

tu je kot.... tapi yang penting judul buku harus banyak lagi.... standard U la.... kalau boleh biar sampai 20K judul buku.... baru nampak gah sikit....

about internet, just found that only prob for student, but at lab, or other place(pentadiran) give good speed.... wonder why???

p/s: ada tgk lakaran pelukis dgn perpustakaan di pekan??? komen sikit... bagi aku, tak leh design yang artistik sikit???

1. I know how to use the kiosk LOL, it's just maybe it's clearer to put a simple OP coz I notice some people weren't sure how to use

2. I definitely agree that we need more books, the shelves should not have so much space between each other!

3. The interior definitely could use some sprucing up...But I guess a neutral layout would appease most people...

4. I don't like the Pekan library pic but I think that simple edge style is a UMP trait.
